Big News From Warner Bros?

March 08, 2007 | Video
Last week several sites mentioned possible big news for Elvis fans from Warner Bros. The source was a chat with Warner Home Video on the Home Theater Forum. From the transcript: " Hello. I’m a fan of Elvis Presley. Many fans around the world and I want to know: are there any plans for a single or multi disc package of the concert documentaries, “That’s The Way It Is” and “Elvis On Tour", with unreleased concert and rehearsal footage? Thank you. We have huge Elvis news.....We cannot announce all the plans now, but we will have a big announcement to make in a few weeks. Stay tuned to HTF for further details. ELVIS fans are going to be VERY VERY HAPPY!" We asked EPE's Todd Morgan for a reply on this matter: "We are not at liberty to comment about any Elvis DVD plans Warner Brothers might have until they indicate to us that they are ready to announce something." You can read the transcript on the Home Theater Forum website.

OK, let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that everyone concerned, be it Warner Bros., EPE or whoever, deliver the goods. Elvis On Tour is long overdue, as are the six remaining films not yet officially released on DVD. A full version of This Is Elvis would be most welcome as well. And as good as the Special Edition of TTWII was in 2000 it still cries out for a De Luxe 2 or 3-Disc release with all available material. Finally, one last request. Don't let any copyright permission on any songs involved in these projects (if they materialize that is) ruin any of the releases, as happened before. Thanks guys!

On closer inspection, the WB-answer is not directly related to the question, i.e. no statment is made about TTWII or On Tour.

it will be elvis on tour for sure. people been moaning and groaning about it since dvds were coming out so its deffinitely that in fact i bet you its gonna be shown on turner classic movies this august . its most liely one of them silent supprise things they been working on since 2000 it does take quite awhile to edit and go through all the vaults and everything. as for the copyright nonsense i agree if a song is sang in concert there is no grounds for anyone to get royalties on that song cuz it is sang in concert there fore that can not do anything even though its in a movie.

Let's hope they don't do anything with "This Is Elvis" - unless they remove the terrible impersonator voice over. It is hopeless having to hear the comments. I prefer Elvis himself thank you. As for "On Tour" - yes please! It is long awaited. Perhaps they can do a double release. Using the original "On Tour" film and the second disc of the outtakes. There is so much on film that wasn't used in the original film. The interview with Elvis on bootleg must have been shot in colour. They need to address the fact that the original film is unavailable to buy on DVD. Perhaps they can release the original movie and do a separate special double DVD of the outtakes. Any outtakes officially released would be a welcome addition to the substandard quality of the bootlegs.

I hope they'll release rest of the movies plus original TTWII, EOT and This is Elvis. I don't care if those aren't special editions made with million dollar budget. That's not the reason why I would by those.

Agree with Paul Reno - dont release This Is Elvis unless it is revamped and the voice over and the silly Elvis 'stand-ins' are removed. They made that movie laughable. Just give us the real stuff or none at all.

I also am hoping for the "On Tour" release with all the extras.

I don't think the voice over in TIE is laughable. I think TIE was a great release. They could however use Elvis' real voice, since a lot that the voice over said , Elvis also said in the On Tour interviews. I hope it will be an On Tour release, though, with all outtakes, like 68 an Aloha. Like 5 disks. We can always hope.

Please, don't forget the 6 movies still unreleased on DVD and with extra's. Also, any movies as special edition highly welcome. Of course, the extra footage for TTWII is essential. Thanks!

Imagine how cool it would be if they could release movie bloopers. I'm very sure some studios may have some on the cans.

I want elvis on tour released for 2 reasons, one id like to have it on dvd and i hope its a new upgraded version, the other reason is i want a official cd box set from on tour that is long over due,i would even be happy with a book from ftd from on tour, since that is actually something special,of all the great releases that have came from ftd and at one time the regular label, on tour is wanted from the fans, both on dvd and a cd box set,the bootlegs of these shows for the most part are imcomplete, and the bootleg dvd do nothing for me,i figure that if a on tour dvd is released that ernst want have any more excuses for holding back the cd set, this is one thing i think he could speak about, letting us at least know what the plans are for when they do release a cd set of on tour! Anyone else agree?
Steve V wrote on March 17, 2007
mature - agreed! No more boots. Lets have it all officially.

I know a couple of DVD's that will be re-released for certain. That is Viva Las Vegas and Jailhouse Rock. I heard George Klein on Elvis radio yesterday that he was involved with the extras parts on both movies. Also Argo on Elvis Radio is doing a documentary I think.

I hope it's Elvis on Tour also. This would be a big step in the right direction for 2007, and it would give Elvis exposure to a new fan base. As with other re-releases, it should be revamped, with improved sound and picture quality. As mentioned earlier, perhaps previously unreleased material could be included on a bonus DVD, with an accompanying booklet to go along with it. I think it would be top seller if packaged and marketed appropriately. The fans really want this!

"We have huge Elvis news..." What a crock of crap. It'll be all the existing DVDs in a slightly different box. As usual. And some fans will still buy it.
mature_elvis_fan75 wrote on March 20, 2007
Well this Elvis fan wont buy the same movies in a new package,i will believe the rest of movies not on dvd yet as well as Elvis on Tour are being released when i hear official news,i have lost hope of anything being done with on tour and if it does happen dont expect a 3 or 4 dvd set, while its nice to dream its better to live in reality!
JerryNodak wrote on March 21, 2007
I haven't bought any of the movies on DVD as of yet. So, I'll have to get started once Warner Bros. makes their "big" announcement.

For those that have been Elvis fans forever, please try to realize that there are plenty of us younger fans out there that are just as obsessed with Elvis as you are, but do not have every movie on DVD yet. I for one really look forward to these DVD box sets. Am i being ripped off? Probably. But i don't care. I purchased the Ultimate Movie Collection Graceland Edition and thought it was great. In fact i have all the 8x10 pics that came with it framed and in my Elvis Room. So keep the box sets coming and lets be more supportive....It's not as if you HAVE to buy it if you feel it's crap. TCB.

Can people stop being so negative. This is why none of the people at BMG Sony, Warner etc. ever look at this site, or other forums, because there are too many people with too little brain. Hope it's not too offensive, but I can't stand all the complaining, we should count our blessings and look at the tremendous amount of material that has been released.
