Elvis 2nd To Angelina Jolie

February 24, 2007 | People
Mother-of-three Angelina Jolie has been named the sexiest individual in history.
Jolie, 31, comes four places above her other-half, Hollywood heart-throb Brad Pitt, 43. Hip-gyrating Elvis Presley is second in the poll conducted for Channel 4, almost 30 years after his death.

The Oscar-winning actress beat some of the world's most famous sex symbols, from Steve McQueen to Sophia Loren, in the top 100. Blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe is third, one place above Crazy in Love singer and Dreamgirls star Beyonce.

George Clooney, 45, is seventh and there is good news for pop princess Kylie Minogue, 38, following her split with Olivier Martinez - she is eighth. Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp, 43, makes ninth place, and Scarlett Johansson, 22, is tenth.

Top ten sex greatest sex symbols;

1 Angelina Jolie
2 Elvis Presley
3 Marilyn Monroe
4 Beyonce Knowles
5 Brad Pitt
6 Lara Croft
7 George Clooney
8 Kylie Minogue
9 Johnny Depp
10 Scarlett Johansson

Yeah right! Just goes to show the staying power of Elvis & Marilyn and I bet the only two who will again be on this list in 5-10 years time! I wonder who they will be against at that time.

Angelina Jolie is certainly beautiful, but NO comparison to Elvis! Elvis is in a class above anyone.

So Elvis is the best looking male in this list and Angelina Jolie the best looking female... i'll go with that!

I think people who run such polls often put Elvis at #2 to give their poll a little more interest and a little less predictability. BBC Radio 2 put him second to Frank Sinatra in a poll to find the greatest singer of the 20th century, and made out that it wasn't just the votes that counted but also "the views of a panel of experts". And of course Time magazine completely left him out of their poll of a hundred most influential Americans......

They put Elvis in the poll to give the poll credibility

They devoted about 2 minutes to Elvis with some grainy footage from Milton Berle show, even leaving out the 'raunchyy' ending to Hound Dog, coupled with some again poorly edited Frank Sinatra special stuff. No publicity stills from the 50s or for that matter from 68 special, etc etc....they are meant to be showing why he is the greatest male sex symbol of our time and it seems they grab the cheapest available footage with no regard for presentation. It didn't represent WHY he is up at the top of this poll at all, especially to younger veiwers. CHANNEL FOUR DON'T GET MY VOTE!

Memphis_Flash you got it right.Channel 4 are too busy advertising to notice anything. Other star's such as Rock Hudson got much more air time, might say something about the men at C4!

I agree with June as that men and women should be in separate polls. Elvis is certainly the most handsome male ever (even if I`m not gay) but actress Salma Hayek is definitely the most gorgeous woman who ever lived on this planet...(Angelina wouldn`t even be in my Top 100 to begin with)...To each his own, I guess !...Cheers !

I agree with some of the other posters comments about Elvis being placed second. In a similar MTV Poll Elvis was second to Madonna. In yet another similar one for a major newspaper Elvis was second to David Beckham. I could go on but the point is well made. Elvis and Marylin will still be in the Top 10 of such Polls 50 years from now whereas Angelina Jolie and the rest will not even get a mention. Needless to say, Elvis was the most handsome man who ever lived in my opinion, not in a rugged way but in a beautiful way.

Why do you think Channel 4 only gave a couple of minutes to Elvis? Wake up and smell the coffee! You know why. It is not because Channel 4 have a secret agenda against Elvis! It is that $100,000 for 60 seconds deal that excludes Elvis Presley from UK network telly. And as for Angelia Jolie, there are better looking babes in Emmerdale.

Elvis is the sexiest, most handsome and charismatic person; period. He had a inner beauty also; and a generous heart. I've found that through the years a lot of journalist are totally jealous of Elvis. He will allways be the best. Besides; who get to vote on these polls? the folks at Belleaviewe? Did I spell that right??

What a very odd list. I really don't get the Angelina Jolie thing, Lara Croft is a fictional character, Kylie has a nice arse but is by no means beautiful and Scarlett Johanson looks like a puffa fish. They seem to have got the blokes right, but the ladies in that list just aren't up to scratch for me I'm afraid. Apart from Monroe of course.

Polls like this are garbage and it keeps Elvis from getting serious musical acclaim like Dylan or The Beatles. Many critics think the fans just cared about the way he looked and didnt care what crap he put on record. I'm very happy the other poll came out and he is number # 1 on the singers list . Finally a decent poll!
