Elvis Commercial Shown During Super Bowl

January 31, 2007 | Other
Several automakers kick off their new campaigns in during the US Super Bowl. More than 90 millions people will watch the Super Bowl in the U.S. alone and CBS charges as much as $2.6 million for 30 seconds of ad time.

Honda plans to run two 30-second commercials during the game's fourth quarter. The first commercial will promote the fuel efficiency of Honda and the second is a blatant appeal to baby boomers. A Honda spokesman said the second spot is known inside the company as "Elvis" and features a CR-V dancing to a remix of Elvis Presley's song "Burning Love."

Now we are talking business!! The Nike commercial featuring ALLC was a major boost in terms of single sales, resulting in a number 1 position in 17 countries. Now another big company has committed itself by spending a lot of money and using a remix of Burning Love. From what I heard it sounded good. I hope BMG/SONY take note of it, and release it as a single. It may not sell as good as ALLC, but I am confidend it will do much better than Rubberneckin'. MOWO did not fool around with Elvis's voice: he only beefed up the backing track, and made it sound more funky for todays teenager ears.

It will be a remix? Haven't heard about that. Are you sure?

Haven't you read the news about that commercial a few months ago here? The remix is... ok... it sounds just like the original version, with some extra percussion. The remixer made only 30 seconds of the song, specially for the comercial.

I don't think that the vocal track on ALLC was messed with. They should have used the origianal movie recording instead of the more laid back '68 special recording of the song. The vocals on the movie version is musch better and more brighter. If they do more remixes I would hope it would be a lesser known song. Being that Burning Love was such a big hit and so recognizable, I believe takes away from the impact. But from what I heard it sounds pretty good. I read somewhere a while back where RCA/BMG/Sony would have to spend a million dollars to promote a single release. They have to look at that to see what kind of return they can get. If it looks like they can't make that back, then it won't happen. Good God man! With all the millions or even billions Elvis has made for the label...and they are nervous about spending money on their biggest money maker!?? Give me a break!

I just hope that a full version of Burning Love or any other good track would be remixed during this important year. Honda has given a tremendous boost for Burning Love so I think its about time BMG authorises a DJ to remix the full song so that it could be released.

If this is the same remix we heard a while ago, yes it is very close to the original. I agree Burning Love is a great song but is too well known maybe to be a hit all over again. We need a hidden gem like ALLC for a remix that folks would say 'Wow thats an Elvis song? It great!' I can name a dozen hidden gems that are aching to be hits! But all in all, with a zillion people watching the SB, its great exposure for the King.

i like Elvis, but a good pun would be a 1977 Air Ship flying over the super with Elvis picture on it, calling it the Graceland Blimp now thats a high flier and and eye catcher now thats a commerical playing with fire
