Elvis In MSG Top 50 Moments

January 01, 2007 | Other
During the end of the year, the TV-station MadisonSquareGuarden Networks aired a documentary about their 50 greatest moments in history. All items are higlighted in detail.

The Garden hosts mainly sportsevents and that's the reason why more than 50% of the items are dedicated to sport. The 4 legendary sold-out concerts from Elvis in NY are on the fourth place of the list and is the only non-sports event in the Top 20. The 9/11 concert (an event that shocked the USA and happened recently) comes in at # 21. The item in the show is documented with unknown footage of the concert and newscoverage. It is unknown if the series will be published on DVD.

Considering MSG is associated with sport, No.4 has got to be pretty good i would have thought. Well Done King TCB

I understand that the King is #3, and I hope that I'm not wrong.

I wonder how truly "unknown" that footage is, when matched up against, say, Memory Records' excellent "Rockin' At the Garden" DVD extravaganza. I'm really glad the fans came through and made sure Elvis registered in this polll and I must say, not unfairly. They surely would have found a way to keep it all sports but the fact of the matter was that Elvis' 1972 shows in New York were a milestone, and not just for MSG. Way to go, people! Now I just would like to get my hands on this documentary!

Ouch. Keep going people. But if the documentary is done and included Elvis (probably in part because of the poll) then so be it. I think MSNBC is notorious also for never closing it's polls. That's because they don't publicize the results. Why not? They're meaningless! :) The taking of the poll is all they really care about.
