In the latest The Man And His Music magazine Ernst Jorgensen talks about his upcoming SUN project. In this article he says he found a new live version of the classic "That's All Right". According to a posting on the FECC messageboard, quoting the magazine, the version is recorded in Meridian in 1955.
In the same article Ernst Jorgensen says another FTD book / CD project is in the works. It is entitled "Writing For The King". Again from the FECC messageboard: "Ken Sharp, who handled that excellent interview with Ernst Jørgensen in "Record Collector" a month or two back, has apparently queried a selection of Elvis songwriters. A disc of Elvis outtakes and a disc of Elvis songwriters demos will be included".
From author Bill Bram ("Elvis As The One Called Charro") we received this update:
Ken interviewed well over 100 songwriters, most of which I have never heard speak before about Elvis, certainly not in the detail that is required. Including big names such as: Mac Davis, Phil Spector, Paul Anka, Neil Sedaka, etc. And many lesser known, but equally as important, writers. Loads of new information. The cherry on the cake is the "discovery" of dozens of new demos that the songwriters submitted to Elvis that haven't seen the light of day since they were produced. This will be a must for Elvis fans. I can't wait to see the final product.

I'm all for these book sets. It's just the high price that puts me off. $65 is a lot of money.

PJones I agree with the price being a bit much. But as I spent years not being able to afford anything, I'm still catching up with everyone else. I love the FTD books, I think they are extremely tasteful and well done and I for one will definately be buying one. I can't wait!

BMG France released a similar project a few years ago on a couple of songwriters. I have the Sid Tepper & Roy C.Bennett CD and they have a few demos at the end, one called Wife Number 99 (not that exciting, really).
