Sunday Chart Update

November 13, 2005 | Music
On the Australian ARIA album chart the "Hitstory" compilation climbs from #41 to #28 this week.

On the UK album chart this compilation enters the chart at #31. This entry gives the music King his third album chart success of the year, and by doing so it:

1) Becomes his 76th Top 40 album (as of November 14, 2005). The leading female artist is Diana Ross with 38. Top group is The Rolling Stones, also, with 38 hit albums.

2) means that Elvis has now has spent 976 weeks in the Top 40 album chart. The top group is The Beatles (with 897). Top female is Madonna, who has been on the Top 40 album chart for more weeks than any other female soloist (560).

3) Expands, to 49 years, 1 weeks and four days ( From "Rock 'N' Roll", entering the week of 3rd Nov 1956), to "Hitstory", entering the week of 14th November 2005), his already established record. Amongst female artits, Ella Fitzgerald has the greatest album longevity of any female soloist, at 44 years, 9 months and 7 days (19th Jul 1958 to 26th Apr 2003). The group record is held by The Rolling Stones at 39 years, 5 months (25th Apr 1964 to 27th Sep 2003).

Incidentally, his latter record held by Elvis could be broken, any week, by anyone who charted an album in the UK top forty album chart prior to Elvis` first UK top forty album. They are not many who did, and who are still relasing and selling lots of albums in the UK,but the few who could, amonst them Sinatra, are still releasing albums in the UK so it would be possible for this recrd to change hands, back and forth.
