Vote For The UK's Greatest #1 Hit

January 10, 2005 | Music
As the UK approaches the 1000 number one single (which could very well be "One Night" by Elvis) they would like to know which one you think is the greatest.

If you vote, they will use your choice to compile the top ten Greatest No.1 Singles of Radio 1 listeners which they will announce later in the month. Use the link below (we preselected the artists starting with an "E" for you.

OK On this one we ( Elvis fans) are all going to have to agree on which Elvis single we're going to vote for, Personally I just voted for "A little less conversation". As soon as we have an agreement sure I can vote again, but I do think ALLC is a pretty good choice.

Well Rob_Irish, I'm not sure ALLC is the best choice. Personally I would go for His Latest Flame/Little Sister, in my opinion the best double A-Side EVER! Sadly Hound Dog/Dont' Be Cruel was not a #1 hit in the UK which would have been an even better choice. But what the heck, I would vote for "Old McDonald" if we all agree as long as we put Elvis where he belongs - on TOP!!! BTW I have also voted for ALLC for consistency but like Rob_Irish would vote again if we decide on a particular title.

Sorry guys, well not really. I went for "It's now or never"..just felt that it showed off the power and versatilty of the King's voice best....who cares, as long as he's top!

Sorry too. I've gone for 'All shook up'! I wish Elvis would get to Number 1, but to be honest, its more likely to be an act with less Number 1 hits to choose from isn't it. Elvis votes are going to be split 18 ways potentially

It appears that Jailhouse Rock and A Little Less Conversation are getting more of the Elvis votes.

I agree, The Wonder of You, in my opinion is by far Elvis' greatest Number 1. Of course, when it comes to the nation vote, Bohemian Rhapsody always wins by a mile.

Wel one reason why it makes sence to vote for the remix of ALLC is because other non- fans will also be voting for it as it was a very popular track with the public and readily played in nightclubs. I have a fantastic mix of ALLC mixed by a guy called Skeewif if anyone would like to hear it just let me know. iIt is more soulfull and sticks closer to the original recording but the best yet.

I would make The Wonder of You around 16th or 17th out of the 18 different no ones. To me only Wooden Heart and Good Luck Charm are worse! Of all the tracks only Jailhouse Roack and A Little Less Conversation have much of a chance of getting anywhere near the top. The usual suspects will prevail - Queen, Robbie Williams etc.

I voted for Elvis Presley - Jailhouse Rock

Please vote for - Jailhouse Rock Because is the number one single in UK now in january 2005 and after I am sure that many important companies and others like BBC put more polls because they want that us show our love for our Elvis presley. Then, is important to put agree in a theme for now (Jailhouse Rock). If us choose many singles is more probably that Elvis Presley Elvis do not Rules Brittania for our blame. For then Please vote for -Jailhouse Rock

I had to vote for Jailhouse Rock. The other songs are great, but Jailhouse Rock is timeless.

I´ve voted for Jailhouse Rock. There are indeed other great songs but Jailhouse is the absolute winner. TCB.

OK Guys, Jailhouse Rock it is. I'm voting for it right NOW! Come on EVERYONE - do the same. Let's keep Queen out and THE KING in!! (I hate Bohemian Rhapsody, it's a good song but in my opinion highly overrated)

I voted for ALLC not because it is his best song but this one will have votes from younger people that are not die hard Elvis fans.
