Tourist Attraction Goes Up In Flames

February 15, 2004 | Other
At least ten of 12 buildings at Apacheland Movie Studio were destroyed in a fire that broke out about 7 p-m Saturday night. More than 30 firefighters were called to battle the blaze at the 85-acre tourist attraction east of Apache Junction.

Apacheland was constructed in 1960 and was rebuilt after a May 1969 fire in which a careless actor's cigarette burned everything but the barn and church. The likes of Ronald Reagan, John Wayne, Chuck Connors, Hugh O'Brian and Elvis Presley (for Charro) all pretended to duck bullets there.
