February 28, 2002 | Other
The city of lights welcomes race fans for a sneak peak at three special Elvis paint scheme race cars. The stock car of NASCAR Winston Cup Champion Rusty Wallace, the funny car of 11-time NHRA Funny Car Champion John Force, and the top fuel dragster of NHRA ace Larry Dixon all featuring Elvis Presley themes will be on display for public viewing at Caesars Palace on Friday, March 1, 2002.

The three Elvis cars were designed by Action Performance as part of the Elvis 25th Anniversary program. Rusty Wallace will race his Elvis car at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, March 3, 2002.

This special program marks the second time in five years that Elvis Presley is featured on Rusty’s race car. In addition limited edition die-cast replicas of the cars and other merchandise for collectors are available online at Go Racing.

"Elvis Presley is the acknowledged King of Rock & Roll," said Action Performance’s chairman of the board, president, and CEO Fred W. Wagenhals. "We know from prior experience that Elvis is immensely popular with race fans, and having Elvis on NASCAR and NHRA race cars in Las Vegas is a natural fit. It is a wonderful way for us in the motorsports industry to pay homage to a great entertainer."
