Return To Seller -- Elvis Jacket Sale Flops

November 09, 2000 | Other
Bids for Elvis Presley's U.S. army uniform, complete with the stain where he leaned against a newly painted window, failed to reach the reserve price at a London auction Wednesday. Auctioneers had expected the uniform dress jacket to fetch up to $35,570. But the highest bid was less than $10,000. Alexander Crum-Ewing of auctioneers Bonhams and Brooks said there was too much Elvis memorabilia on the market. ``This piece was more army than rock 'n' roll,'' he told Reuters.
