Polk Salad Annie

May 28, 2004 | Music
The tracklisting of the next FTD release, "Polk Salad Annie" (earlier working title "On Stage Revisited") is published in the new issue of The Man And His Music. Surprisingly it will contain 3 rehearsal tracks.

I Got A Woman / Long Tall Sally / Don't Cry Daddy / Hound Dog Love Me Tender / Kentucky Rain / Let It Be Me / I Can't Stop Loving You / Walk A Mile In My Shoes / In The Ghetto / Sweet Caroline / Polk Salad Annie / Introductions / Suspicious Minds / Can't Help Falling In Love (All February 15, M.S.) / Release Me (February 19, D.S.) / See See Rider (February 17, M.S.) / Proud Mary (February 19, D.S.) / The Wonder Of You (February 18, D.S.) / Release Me / See See Rider / The Wonder Of You (February 18, afternoon rehearsal)

In the Q&A in TMAHM Ernst says about It Hurts Me in the tracklist on Internet: "This is a total fabrication and I've no idea where this information came from - certainly not from us. We do not have a tape of Elvis singing 'It Hurts Me' in 1970. I wish we did."

Maybe because they tie in with the rest of the songs perhaps!!?

The same 3 rehearsal tracks that appeared on Platinum if I'm not mistaken! Why?

Well I'm looking forward to Polk Salad Annie as I do to every FTD release.

If this is true, I have two questions: Why isn't the February 18 dinner show version of Don't Cry Daddy included? This has never had wide release on CD, only vinyl. Also, why would the commonly available The Wonder of You from the same show be available? I find these two things troubling, and they make me hope this track listing is not reliable. Any insight anyone has would be much appreciated.

Although I do have a couple of questions about the release, I, too, am looking forward to it. I'm sure it will be excellent and add a lot of great things we didn't even know were available. I just wish I could get that version of Don't Cry Daddy on an official release! Oh, well, maybe someday.

Where did people get the idea that Elvis sang "It Hurts Me" in 1970? Yes it is true!! But with Elvis all is possible.

I am real looking foward to this f.t.d. release(as i always do),anything 'new' about elvis performing we must not take for granted and be thankfull that ftd are releasing such a good cd.it loks good and i'm really cant wait to listen to the rehearsals.i cannot understand some elvis fans who actualy complain about such exciting releases?-wot do they want man,at least were getting something new and worth buying as not every elvis fan has all the bootlegs that have been released over the years and the good ftd lable are their only source for unreleased elvis music,so lets stop attacking ernst m jorgansen and start to thank him with what we have had released by him and be a little gratefull,if it was'nt for people like him we would not get good(well, serpurb actualy)release like the amazing and best cd ever released" the jungle room sessions".

Why is Ernst Jorgenson not including the "All Shook Up" vamp and song, which Elvis used to open each set during this engagment. We know RCA recorded this opening for the February 17 1970 Dinner Show. Is Jorgenson not including the "All Shook Up" opener so that he can include the 3 rehearsal tracks already issued on Platinum? What is going on here?
