September 06, 2002 | People
Music industry veteran Jerry Schilling, who was a confidante of Elvis Presley, has resigned as president and chief executive officer of the Memphis and Shelby County Music Commission. His resignation was announced Wednesday. He took the post in 1999. Schilling, 59, wouldn't discuss the reasons for his departure. But he told The Commercial Appeal, "I think the timing is right for a change — but I'm definitely going to miss it."
