Elvis Today On FTD

March 01, 2005 | Music
The Elvis Information Website mentioned that one of the July 1, 2005 FTD releases will be a double CD issue of the RCA album "Elvis Today" with bonus tracks in the 7" format.

On our question for confirmation of this news Ernst Jorgensen replied us: "It's our plan at this stage. Yes."

Wonderful news. This is a great album. I hope all future FTD releases will be on the 7" Format. Forget the didi-pack.

The Today album, thats fantastic ! I agree CD King, give us only the 7" format and give us a box to keep them in . Maybe a box for 20 at a time, anyone think this a good idea?, well i do. Oh and give us ROUSTABOUT.

Great news. I particularly like the song TROUBLE. If you go to the Jerry Chestnut (writer) home page you will hear Elvis doing alternate takes of this song in the RCA Studio in Hollywood.

Good news. Another outtake of "Pieces Of My Life"" ?

I would love to see Girls,Girls,Girls on 7" CD format.
Eriksen wrote on March 02, 2005
This is great. I can't wait. The TODAY album is fantastisc. And yes! Give us the Rostabout and Kissin Cousins album in the same format. Great albums.
Lou A wrote on March 02, 2005
I'd like to see the release of a box to hold the 7 inch discs as well. While I'm at it , I wouldn't mind getting a "Tickle Me" soundtrack in this format.
RonBaker wrote on March 02, 2005
Time for a reissue of "Today" in 5.1 surround sound. The original album was issued in quad...how hard can it be to do a 5.1 mix of that album???? PLEASE move Elvis into the 21st century! #1's in dvd audio was a start ("Hound Dog" didn't work because the sound kept bouncing around, but the rest of the cd was great).

The July FTD-release of the Today album was already reported in January, including tracklasting.

I can´t wait to keep this FTD in my hands. I love it allready. I hope we get the other FTDs in 7 inch format. TCB.

Lou A's got it right a box to keep 'em in and tickle me please.
Ton Bruins wrote on March 02, 2005
What is this asking for releases for those movie crap like "Tickle Me" ? Can't understand that.
sdeahkcid wrote on March 02, 2005
Ton Bruins, Cant understand you. Firstly if you knew where the music from Tickle Me came from you wouldent be saying such a foolish statement. The songs in Tickle Me where from studio sessions not film songs and are of very high calibre for example "it Feels So Right" and "Long Lonely Highway". Elvis" voice was at its best aroung the early to mid ( and late) sixties so ROUSTABOUT, TICKLE ME, CLAMBAKE we want !
sdeahkcid wrote on March 02, 2005
LOU, Thankyou very backing up my idea of a box to keep the 7" cds in. We could have a box for the movies then one for the 70" discs etc.
Ton Bruins wrote on March 02, 2005
sdeahkcid, It Feels So Right and Long Lonely Highway are good songs and his voice in the sixties was great, I know all that, but 90% of his movie songs are crap. Roustabout, Clambake, Girls,Girls,Girls....come on give me a break. Besides this header is about Elvis Today and not about movie soundtracks.

Why don't you forward your wishes to Ernst Joergensen directly? I'd also would buy boxes to keep the 7" cds or even the regular FTDs! It's a very good idead...
glennd wrote on March 02, 2005
Yes, folks, a box for the CDs will be a great idea. I´ll surely buy it like the others. TCB.
sdeahkcid wrote on March 02, 2005
King of Spades etc I have asked Ernst about the box in the ask Ernst section, Does anyone have Ernst direct email and i'll put it to him , so to speak. Ton Bruins, ROUSTABOUT kicks ass !! Anyway mate its all about our personal experiences when we first heard these songs or seen the films. Theres more involved than just weather they'r good songs or not, come on lets be human here.

Ton Bruins: "Tickle Me" is a bad example, as the songs are the best ever, and I'm sure everyone know why. Anyway, I'd like to have ALL of the Elvis albums re-issued under the FTD label on the 7" format. And please... carefully remasterized in DSD. I agree he wasn't never better than in the beguinning of the 60s.
Ton Bruins wrote on March 02, 2005
I am not making friends here...lol. Anyway to each his own I guess. I am just not a very big fan of Elvis' his movie career and I think Elvis wasn't himself either.

PaulFromFrance wrote:" I'd like to have ALL of the Elvis albums re-issued under the FTD label on the 7" format. And please... carefully remasterized in DSD." Are you kidding? DSD remastered sound on FTD? Never ever! The FTD CDs are made without any big efforts and the production costs must be less than any Camden LP in the 70s I think!. Many Import Cds sound better than some of the FTDs. Most of the CDs are made/produced in poor sound and far away from perfect DSD/DCC or 24Bit sound! It´s a shame but listen to them and compare them to other releases and you will hear the difference. (The Frankie, Harem, Memphis 74 FTD are just a few examples for bad sound!) :-(
sdeahkcid wrote on March 02, 2005
Digger, I must have bad ears cause i love these albums, sound fine to me. One thing i will say, when it comes to the 70s covers that were bad to begin with i dont see the sence in making the same mistake again by releasing them with the same covers. Im sure The "Today" album for example could be produced with an alternative cover. What we want: 1) Boxes for the FTD releases. 2) Similar but better covers than the originals for the 70's albums. 3) Roustabout, Tickle Me etc on 7" FTD

I agree that the Tickle Me soundtrack was good, due to the source the songs originally came from. The Roustabout soundtrack as you stated was a good time to for the Presley voice was inform. But Clambake, Sdeahkid, forget it. The only decent songs on that were the so called " bonus songs"
Rejane wrote on March 02, 2005
I vote for a Tickle Me cd set as well because that movie was not given a sound track album and included with the Double Features cd sets and it's one of my favorite movies. It's such campy fun. The haunted town and all, much better than say Austin Powers! I'd like to have copies of all the old movie posters from it, ect., just like all the other cd's released for his movie soundtracks which I already have copies of. The music from Tickle Me was not bad because it wasn't written for the movie, they were songs already in the can.
sdeahkcid wrote on March 02, 2005
Lets not forget the box to keep em in, i think we should make sure Ernst gives us boxes!! we're box crazy now!
Eddie White wrote on March 03, 2005
What is all this commotion about concerning Tickle Me, Roustabout and Clambake. The subject is to do with Today album. Why dosen't anybody talk about the album content ot the Today album instead of getting side-tracked. Are you all on something?
dailyone wrote on March 03, 2005
get what ever you can today , tickle me i and the rest of you have been asking this ablum for years . it is the lost album and film .
Ton Bruins wrote on March 03, 2005
What are the "Tickle Me", "Clambake" - boys thinking about the upcoming release of "Today" ? That is the subject gentlemen !
John4126 wrote on March 03, 2005
What impresses me about the forthcoming 'Today' cd and subsequent classic albulm releases is that they are 2 cd sets for the price of the single cd. Generally one cd will feature the unreleased outtakes. As someone who bought the vinyl and original cd releases this is most welcome - i don't feel that i'm being ripped off having to buy the same stuff over again for just a few 'new' tracks. Thanks Ernst!

xeletahi: there is no need for such a section. This is a news site not a forum or a chatroom.
sdeahkcid wrote on March 03, 2005
Loesje, Obviously your wrong, take a look at the postings, see how they do not stick to the subject , things are not always black and white , people are not robots althought reading some of your postings like your own i begin to wonder.

My number one fan and those other "drift from the subject" guys... there are plenty of sites where you can drop your off topic contributions. Regarding the way of spelling, they fit best in chatrooms.
Ton Bruins wrote on March 03, 2005
Thanks Lex, those guys keep on talking about "Tickle Me", "Clambake" and other movie crap while the subject is "Elvis Today". Can you understand that ?
sdeahkcid wrote on March 03, 2005
hahaha lex, well spotted, hey aint the Today album great !
Lex wrote on March 04, 2005
Today used to be one of my favourite albums. Nowadays it isn't anymore, but it is still much better than the average movie soundtrack. But I'd go for another few outtakes of "Pieces", which is still among my all time favourites.
