Spinout

Rating:
4.1 / 5

Words & Music: Ben Weisman Sid Wayne Dolores Fuller

When her motor's warm, and she's purrin' sweet
Buddy let me warn ya', you're on a one-way street
She'll crowd ya' close, spin your wheels
Then you're gonna know how it feels
To spinout..spinout

Better watch those curves, never let her steer
If she can shake your nerves..boy
She can strip your gears
She'll get your heart, goin' fast
Then she'll let you run out of gas
So spinout...spinout

The road to love is full of, danger signs
Too many guys were lost
Who crossed those double lines

Doncha know she's out to prove, she can really score
Never saw parts move, boy
Like that before
To flag you down, that's her goal
Scoot before you lose control
And spinout...spinout!!

I love this song, it is so groovy!!!

Outstanding title tune to Elvis' 22nd movie. Well written song, comparing women and the dangers that come along with them to racing. The only problem with this song and the other uptempo songs from this movie and soundtrack is the rather flat sounding music behind them. Maybe this song could use an update along the lines of "A Little Less Conversation"?

This song grooves, and is so 60's cool. Just compare it to songs of Harem, Double Trouble, PHS ,etc from that period. This should have charted higher. I think this is an unknown gem that could be a hit today with an updated remix.

It's a nice swinging sixties sound and features the 60's spirit, in that sense. Like the organ sound!

Loved it then. Still love it today. Groovy man. Groovy. 4 stars.

This is one of the best movie title songs from the 60s and captures the right sound and feeling. An obvious single choice at the time. Four stars from me.

Not an Lp/Cd i listen to much, & when i do its odds on i'd skip this one. I'm sure i went to see the movie but can't even remember. Roll on 68 & the Tv special plus what was to follow.

Who said that Elvis did not record sixties style music . . . listen to this one. And I love(d) it.

A little gem this, love it!

I always liked this song . It does have a "swinging" 60's sound and arrangement. The album is not bad either with 3 excellant bonus songs . I think the only reason this song didn't chart higher is that the flip side All That I Am also charted . I think both hit the the top 40 and cancelled each other out. Probably would have went top 20 like Love Letters otherwise.

Would have charted higher if Elvis had been touring or making personal appearances. Well crafted song, with a driving organ that became yet another global million seller. - 4 stars from me

According to Jorgensen Complete Recording book, there was no organ player on the sessions, so could it be that the "organ sound" was produced by a guitar with a gimmick? This is a fantastic song with a great drive.

I like this song a lot. Fun to sing to. However, I like the theme from another racing car movie, even better, and that one is called "Speedway".

I actually think the Spinout album and about 1/2 of Clambake are excellent albums. I like Spinout fine, but actually prefer the flip All That I Am.

Back then, when this LP came about, it was such a fresh breeze compared to HS, F&J and PHS. And the bonus songs were great too! I like the uptempo numbers on this album, Spinout included! I actually play this album in between! Stop, Look And Listen is my fav on here, so I looped it and it's great!

This is such a terrific, fun, groovy, underrated and overlooked Elvis movie song and I've always enjoyed listening to it. Unfortunately, this movie track is very little known. It's one of Elvis' splendid 1960's movie songs. I've always enjoyed the "Spinout" soundtrack album and the "Spinout" movie.

A cut above the usul movie stuff and heading in the right direction at last.

This is by far one of the best sounding and unique Elvis tunes from the 60's ! Such a pity this style was not realized and nurtured ! superb but short lived !!

One of the better soundtracks but the movie itself leaves a lot to be desired; typical travel-lounge Elvis flick. Boy meets, boy gets girl, boy sings his arse off.... Wow!

4 stars? Yesterday's song was "Make The World Go Away" which is ranked a little bitty tiny better than Spinout. I like Spinout, but it's not in the same level (nor league) than Make The World...

Spinout was an improvement compared to the soundtracks recorded the previous year (HS, FJ & PHS). For me however the soundtracks really improved from 1968 onwards (Live A Little, Trouble with Girls etc.) but they only released EPs or singles from them. The last great soundtrack LP was "Fun In Acapulco". The "Spinout" album though has some really good bonus songs. The title song is one of the better soundtrack recordings of that period but nothing special. Three stars from me.

I don't know about other posters, but when I rate a song I rate the song based on my feelings on that song only. Generally speaking how much do I like said song. I don't compare the song being rated to other songs. I like Spinout a lot. 4 stars. BTW: I don't give out fives. Nothing is perfect. Not even Elvis.
