Shoppin' Around

Rating:
3.9 / 5

Words & Music: Aaron Schroeder Sid Tepper Roy C. Bennett

You got the huggin'est arms
The thrillin'est eyes
You're just my style
And you're just the right size
Gonna stop
Uh, shoppin' around
I'm gonna stop
Shoppin' around 'cause I found the girlie I’m lookin' for
Oh, the very first time
You touched my lips
Took my little red book
And tore it to bits
Ain't gonna be
Searchin' no more
I'm gonna stop
Shoppin' around 'cause I found the girlie I’m lookin' for
Ain't no other dolly I’m wantin' to hold
Hey, hey, baby
I really am sold on you
Ooh, ooh, such a pretty little package
I never did see
Gonna wrap you up and take you home with me
I'm thrilled like never before
I'm gonna stop
Shoppin' around 'cause I found the girlie I'm lookin' for
Ain't no other dolly I’m wantin' to hold
Hey, hey, baby
I really am sold on you
Ooh, ooh, such a pretty little package
I never did see
Gonna wrap you up and take you home with me
I'm thrilled like never before
I'm gonna stop
Shoppin' around 'cause I found the girlie I’m lookin' for
I'm gonna stop
Uh shoppin' around
I'm gonna stop
Uh shoppin' around
I'm gonna stop
Shoppin' around

Tepper/Bennett with another wimpy attempt at penning a rock and roll song. Nice performance even though a bit tongue in cheek. Worse was surely yet to come from this out of touch duo.

Fine, light rocker from the movie and soundtrack LP "G.I. Blues". Well written "Tepper/Bennett" (with help from Aaron Schroeder) song that Elvis delivers in top-notch fashion. His performance of the song in the movie is a great scene. 4 stars (leaning towards 4 1/2).

Light rocker is the best you can say about it. Elvis in good voice on a pretty weak song.

Fun song. Elvis, sings it well. Fits nicely in the movie.

In those days Elvis could pick an average song and just make it great. In my opinion Only ELVIS can do that.

This is easily one of Elvis' very best movie songs from the 1960's and it's always so much fun to listen to.

A fun song, sung perfect. I compared this version to the Top Cats version and the greatest difference is the singing. Elvis was a master, but not everyone is worthy to be a pupil. The Dixie Aces have done a real stinking cover off this song. It appears that only Elvis could make a diamond out off coal.

A great 60's type rocker from one of the strongest film tracks of his career. I enjoy without reservation the whole album and this is one of the many highlights.

I was introduced to Elvis through watching afternoon movies on an NBC affiliate TV station. Songs like Shoppin' Around, Frankfurt Special and Pocketful of Rainbows were much more captivating than watching Motown artists on the Merv Griffin Show on another channel, Still, I do not grasp why the GI Blues LP dominated the charts for months while Elvis is Back was not certified gold until years after Elvis' death.

This movie song is a true gem and Elvis' rendition of it was spectacular. The other sixteen songs that Elvis recorded that were co-written by Aaron Schroeder were "A Big Hunk O' Love", "Any Way You Want Me (That's How I Will Be)", "Apron Strings", "Dixieland Rock", "Don't Leave Me Now", "First In Line", "Good Luck Charm", "Got A Lot O' Livin' To Do", "I Got Stung", "I Was The One", "In Your Arms", "It's Now Or Never", "Santa, Bring My Baby Back (To Me)", "Stuck On You", "Young And Beautiful" and "Young Dreams".

5-stars. One of the better soundtrack songs from "G. I. Blues". Don't think it would have been a decent single release as some back in the day thought.
