Words & Music:
This is an absolute new low. Now we're coming up with songs Elvis should have recorded but never did; even in off the cuff situations aka home tape recordings and this is not one of those to be blunt. This is absolute crap; pure supposition on behalf of this web site and this column in particular. Me thinks it's time to remove this section in the future. It's outlived its purpose.
Even if he would have recorded this in the studio, it would have been one of the many mediocre country recordings of the 70's, not a great hit-single or something special. What we have is hardly worth mentioning here. No voting.
It's such a shame that Elvis never got around to recording a proper version of this classic and sad song. The best version of this song that I've ever heard is definitely by Ray Charles.
Yet another obscure throw-away recording.
On spotify I found versions by Ray Charles & Faron Young. It sounds like a good song for Elvis.
