A Whistling Tune

Rating:
3.8 / 5

Words & Music: Sherman Edwards Hal David

Did you ever notice when the sun goes down
Out of nowhere comes a strange and pretty sound
It's a whistling tune for walking in the night
If you listen you can hear it in the breeze
Specially when the breeze is drifting through the trees

It's a whistling tune for walking in the night
And the murmuring waters sing the song
The echoing mountains hum along
The whispering valleys fill the air
With a whistling tune our hearts can share

It's so wonderful to walk beneath the moon
Listening to old mother nature's favorite tune
It's a whistling tune for walking in the night

A very nice song. I prefer the fast one (can be listen on the FTD-CD "Follow that Dream").

A pleasant, innocuous tune that was originally recorded for the movie "Follow That Dream" (1962), but it was not used. Elvis then re-recorded it at a slightly slower tempo for his next movie "Kid Galahad" (1962). Both tracks have a nice sound however this is not a memorable tune or an essential Elvis song. No where near great, but a good track (3 stars) from a very good movie.

Pleasant tune. Always liked it. Not your typical throw-away movie song.

Not a bad song at all, the film was fairly enjoyable too.

A song that wasn't so bad from a film of the same caliber.

A song I don't whistle to.

I never could whistle worth a damn, but I enjoy this tune. Listenable and well sung.

This is such a beautiful, soothing, relaxing, underrated and overlooked song and it's easily one of my most favorite Elvis movie songs from the 1960's.

This song is passable as is the film. Elvis had a strange hair style in this film, his parting seemed dragged over from the side.

Like this happy/mellow song, but I loved it when I was younger, thats the beauty of his songcatalog, as your taste in music changes over time, you can always find plenty of other Elvis songs that you like/love too.l I will rate this one 3.5 stars.

A nice tune, happy sounding and overall very enjoyable. Not earthshattering I agree, but nevertheless a different song structure from any other recording he made, and I always find it a pleasant interlude.

Elvis seemed to have like to whistle on his records, starting as early as '54 on I love you because. A happy tune.

A great feel good song to unwind too, uncomplicated, simple and melodic.

I like the song. Still, Kid Galahad would have worked better without songs. It reminds me of the Don Martin piece in Mad Magazine, "Smelvis Parsley in Singin' Wings" -- no matter how bad things get, sing an upbeat song.
