4 Stars4 Stars4 Stars4 Stars~ Nothing against your opinions, Jerry, but the problem I've always had with the expanded '90s versions of Gold Records Vol. 4 (and Vol. 2) is that the bonus songs were inter-mingled with the original running order of the songs on those albums... plus "Rock-A-Hula Baby" and "Return To Sender" should've been bonuses on the '90s edition of Volume 3 with different/additional bonus songs included on Volume 4. Clear as mud isn't it? Lol
~ Jerry, maybe the only way we are going to get a more complete musical picture of "Elvis' Gold/Golden Records" is for Ernst Jorgensen to re-issue "Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits, Volumes 1 & 2" with some bonus tracks...
or better yet, release a brand new box set covering ALL of Elvis' RIAA "Gold Award" hits.

4 Stars4 Stars4 Stars4 StarsTheMemphisFan: I understand why the songs I mentioned weren't on the original release. But that is nearly 50 years ago. My question pertains to this FTD release. Why aren't the songs included as bonus tracks now along with Tell Me Why? Surely a more complete musical picture would be painted as it were. I guess I'll just have to dig out my copy of the expanded version of GR 4 which was released in the '90s I believe.

4 Stars4 Stars4 Stars4 StarsOK, Jerry, I'll answer your question with the definitive answer, but nobody will be able to answer my question (not even Ernst).
Bossa Nova Baby, Kissin' Cousins, Return To Sender, and Crying In The Chapel were already released on RCA albums before "Elvis' Gold Records, Volume 4" was issued in 1968. It's the exact same reasons why Hard Headed Woman wasn't included on Gold Records Volume 2 in 1959, and Can't Help Falling In Love wasn't included on Volume 3 in 1963. This has been discussed many times before.
"Tell Me Why" had not been released on an album prior to 1968. So on this FTD "classic album" re-issue, it would've fit in perfectly (and appropriately) as a bonus song along with Wild in the Country, Viva Las Vegas, and I'm Yours (single version).

4 Stars4 Stars4 Stars4 StarsSomebody "Tell Me Why" "Bossa Nova Baby," and Kissin' Cousins" aren't included as bonus tracks. They're both RIAA certified Gold. Not to mention "Return To Sender," and "Crying In The Chapel." Also RIAA certified Gold.
