The Elvis now album was an average album for the 70's - not one of the greats like Elvis Country but the four stars reflect the great package and the addition of two brilliant songs I'm leaving and The first time ever I saw your face. Both songs represent Elvis at his very best.

If it wasn't for Hey Jude which I now rate as Elvis' worst recording, even superceding The Clam, this CD might have been worth consideration as a purchase aka the outtakes. I'm happy enough with my $5.00 version from Walmart, excluding the song Hey Jude (which I skip over) as it really makes me cringe. He's straining his voice miserably on this song and considering it was never released in 1969 doesn't that say something? Sorry guys, I'm passing on this one.

I like this FTD release. I'm Leavin' is one of my favorites. I have always been a huge Elvis fan, and still am. Back in the 70s this was the last LP I bought, until Moody Blue (then I went on to buy all the LPs between Elvis Now and Moody Blue. I consider Elvis Country the LAST great Elvis LP. Starting with the "Wonderful World of Christmas" and "He Touched Me" sessions, I started to hear an old man's quiver in Elvis' voice. His singing became lazy and sloppy to my ears. After such astounding (and totally unexpected) great LPs like "From Elvis In Memphis" and "Elvis Country" I was so let down with such releases as "Elvis Now" "Fool" "Raised on Rock" etc (a friend had these and after listening to them, I temporarliy gave up on Elvis for a while, he let me down with a string of movie LPs and made an almost impossible comeback, I decided not to live through another dismal period of Elvis again) I have every FTD release and every domestic US CD (other than some redundant compilations) in my collection now. But, let's face it, only about 30% of his total canon is worthy of being called great.

I give it 4 stars because although it's Elvis, the origibality of the songs are not enough for me. The quality of the cd, pictures are content are four 5 stars but Elvis should find better ones or compose HIMSELF to add new materials. Not Hey Jude or something else.

Great Album! Not the best from the 70's but still a great line up of songs from all kind of genres. The unedited version of 'Dont think twice' makes it all worth while. Sound quality is crystal clear. FTD have yet again done a great job! Keep the Classic re-issues coming!

I always preferred Elvis' music from the 50's & 60's but considered Elvis Now to be one of the better albums from the 70's. I enjoyed all of the songs on this album except for Hey Jude. When Elvis did a cover version, he always made it better than the original except for Hey Jude. I believe that this is the last song from the Memphis Jan./Feb. 1969 sessions to be released, and if so, I understand why. This might have been a one tack song. The rest of the album with the many unreleased alternate takes make it well worth the purchase price. I love it when FTD gives you 2 CD's for the price of 1.
