The MxF label will release soon its new CD titled “Wild Tiger at The Hilton'' featuring Vegas August 22, 1974 Midnight Show.
Elvis' performance is superb, still at the top if his ability he deliveries a long show which is very intense, there is a freshness that cannot be denied, Elvis was very energetic on stage, full of enthusiasm he sang with power and sensitivity, delivering a solid and heartfelt repertoire like the new song “It’s Midnight” and the classic “You Gave Me a Mountain” sang terrifically.
At the same time he worked in heavy rock songs like “Big Boss Man” and the showstopper “If You Talk In Your Sleep”. This season will be remembered for the great opening night and naturally for the Closing Nights from the numerous dialogues, but for the superb music too, Elvis looks fantastic and it is clear that despite it all the music keeps his brain active.
The sound is great an unbelievable audience recording, We have on our hands an early generation mono tape of extremely good quality enabling us to carry out simple re-mastering work, concentrating on the reduction of the low frequency noise whilst trying to achieve a more clear sound and of Elvis, keeping his vocal power up in the central mix and at the same time trying to give a great definition to the background music.
From the first time from this label, this new CD will come in a deluxe DIGIPACK, containing a collection of live photographs of the August 24 and 25 Dinner Show concerts. We love this show, it is clear we are not talking about the rough rocker of early 69/71, but in spite of some limitations and an evolution of style to a more complete musical range the man is still at the top and Elvis at the top means an unforgettable experience for those who attended the show and for those of us prepared to listen.

The ending of this show wasn't recorded... It's probably a fake on this CD,taken from another show. All MxF releases were bad and this won't be an exception. Bad cover art,bad sound,no booklet and edited show.
Don't buy it because this show was recorded on soundboard. SONY even released parts of it. And i'm sure they will release the complete show later. No need to buy a bad sounding incomplete audience recording when a soundboard of this show is out there in the SONY vaults. The only release from this label i bought is HEAVY TIMES. I was happy to buy a CD that contained 2 shows,sadly it turned out that both shows were shortened to make them fit onto 1 CD and they didn't even mention it! Boths shows were edited and incomplete. This is not a honest label,avoid from it. Love,Erika
This is a great release! MxF really improved the sound. They were able to delete the guy with the hickups that was seated behind the taping machine, and all the coughing and farting that was on the tape. Great job!..

I have "Black Angels In Vegas"(the August 30, 1974 Midnight show), and it is very interesting. There's a lot of dialouge, but it's all good. I found myself understanding Elvis better after hearing him talk about his love of Karate. And the song list is superb. Plus he's in fantastic voice. The version of How Great Thou Art from this show is one of my absolute favorites. If you can get your hands on Black Angels, you won't be disappointed. It's a great soundboard recording. As for the release noted above, I too have heard about problems with the label, but that doesn't mean they've put out a poor product this time.
Elvis should have ditched Vegas by 1973. I cant stand to listen to these shows anymore. He lost a lot of credibilty by keep going back and thus a lot of creativity. Such a waste of his talent to be stuck doing these shows.
Not a bad show.. but what we have on cdr sounds poor...if they found a new source or made great sound improvements which is doubtful ..then all is fine..the tape which is floating around is incomplete at the end..(Let Me Be there inc...rest is missing..)..if there`s a cut during Let Me Be there and a difference in sound than they used the well-known bad tape and added a fake end...
Can't agree more with dgirl. If he'd only sing during each day/show "one different song" out of his so-vast repertoir, he would have kept the sparkle into his shows...for much longer years. People would have liked to go and see him again and again, knot knowing which new songs he'd bring that day...in Vegas/Tahoe but also on Tour. Just imagine him hearing sing Treat me nice (vs.All shook up) or Such a night or GLuck ch or I feel so bad or Good r tonite etc etc. So many hits to choose from and sadly, always going back to his old routine....Not very creative I'd say. And apart from that, RCA would have been able to release new live albums that would have been much more successful. A true marketing delight for RCA and EPE that would have been. Too bad now; "it's over, over, o v e r"....Yet, I do still like to hear every day another show/concert of his while I'm in the car....Every show is different but can't get enough of those oldies ! Insiders say that Promised land FTD will be released in January...(?)!! Hope so. This show I'll buy but it's certainly not a great one. He was no longer in shape. I miss him being "zesty" Can't wait to hear the excerpt of the Blauen Donau...Does he do the duet with Sherill on First time your face??? oldies
Wonder why then Elvis's concerts were still a complete sell out until the end, if fans were not that interested anymore why then Elvis flew from all over the world to see Elvis? ...you can't deny this it's a fact and Elvis hated Vegas but the colonel forced him to perform there, you cannot blame this on Elvis, everyone has his own opinion nothing more nothing less
Yes fans flocked to his shows until the end and thus, that was part of the problem. Of course I blame Elvis also. He could have taken his career into his own hands. Critics look at him as the Colonel's puppet and that is what he was in reality. He never said no except one time, the TV special in 1968. If he did it once, he could have done it again. Because of these Vegas contracts and those silly movie contracts (the 2 worst career moves ever made), he will never be regarded as highly as The Beatles or Dylan critically. I'm seeing all the 30 year Lennon tributes today and Elvis never got some of the accolades I'm hearing on the radio or TV. More popular & greater record sales perhaps, but critically no. Not to mention he was no longer putting out really great LPs by 1973 and was probably too out of it to care. Such a waste of God given talent,it makes me seethe.
this sounds like crap too me but if they got a new tape that they have recorded from well then mayby it would sound good but i don't think so. i'm sure it sounds crap they almost do
Elvis had also very much to deal with personal issues about everthing he loved so much.You reffering that John Lennon get's more tribute or attention then Elvis on his passing anniversary, it's just because of Lennon's 30th anniversary of his passing there's more attention of the media so you r right about that,years before that i never ever noticed anything something of attention of Lennon's passing. Elvis's passing anniversary that never goes without any attention of the media every year for example he's on TCM or on cable TV etc all around the world just like every year,it was august 16th this year i turned on my tv and there was Elvis.. every year again one year a little more then another year, Elvis is in the media plenty if it's an anniversary or not..The beatles and Dylan regarded more highly then Elvis? no way.. even is more likely..i don't hear much about Dylan anyway.But ok it's your opinion,like i have mine ofcourse
KurtKK, he sang different songs. Give me a concert song-list and I'll date it within a span of +/- 2 weeks. That's a fact. Sorry he didn't sang "Old Mc Donalds" to fill your bootleg-needs.

No way I'll buy this CD. Trusting Cisco as usual , and also keep in mind the other negative postings about this MxF label. As for SR Records : their Rock 'n' Blues made me decide to buy their "products" never again. Always El.
How can you remix a mono tape? It's in MONO so there's nothing to remix. All you can do is improve on the 'tape noise' and that's about it. I'll wait for the soundboard. Some of my favorite albums Elvis released were 1973 onwards! So, obviously I differ in taste to some comments here. Moody Blue is actually one of my most enjoyable 70's release! What about Promised Land and Today albums? I love 'em! Elvis would do something new he had recorded now and again during his concerts, but the fact is the people who bought the tickets wanted to hear the 'regular' stuff. His concerts sold out - so the formula did work.
