Warhol's Elvis On Jeans

August 28, 2005 | Other
Levi Strauss will use some of Warhol's most famous images, including those of Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe, in its new collection. The "Warhol Factory X Levi's" line of men's and women's clothing, including US$250 jeans and US$300, jackets will be unveiled to prospective retail buyers at a trade show in Las Vegas next week.

"Levi is synonymous with American culture in the same way that Warhol and Elvis is, Levi is an iconic brand, Andy Warhol is an iconic artist and Elvis Presley is an iconic figure" a spokesman said.

I didn't think Elvis liked wearing jeans?

He didn't. Remided him of when he was a poor kid in Mississippi. And I bet even Elvis wouldn't have shelled out $250 for a pair. What a greedy, empty thing this "fashion rock" stuff is.

Actually, this story is false. Our licensing deparment got in touch with Levi Strauss to see what this was about. They verifed that the report was erroneous.
