I wonder if people will line up outside record stores every Monday morning to collect this set like many did last time, and I wonder if these singles will change hands on ebay for silly prices, somehow I think that people won't fall for it a second time as collecting these boxes was so stressful, you can now pick up the complete numbered box set on ebay most weeks for less than people paid for the singles in the stores, and the individual singles are always available, anybody planning on getting up early to stand outside HMV or Virgin ?

I will not be buying this set! I think a few of the song choices are terrible! sorry to be a party pooper, but the year is 2007 and teddy bear in the charts is gonna look hugely embarrasing for us true Elvis fans! im happy they're re-releasing Suspicious Minds, In The Ghetto, Burning Love and Always On My Mind again, these deserve to be number ones!
JerryNodak wrote on June 06, 2007
Embarrassing?? That's an overreaction if ever I read one. Just curious: If "Teddy Bear" will embarrass you, why not "Party"? It's lyrics are equally as silly. Chill out. The whole world isn't watching. Most of it doesn't care.

I don't think so! After the disastrous distribution issues with the last set I don't think we will fall for being conned again!
Harvey Alexander wrote on June 06, 2007
Why would anyone want to buy these? We've all got the tracks over and over again. It's just another way of Sony / BMG screwing money out of Elvis fans - which they do all the time. If you're silly enough to fall for it, then I feel really sorry for you. Would you buy the same newspaper or book over and over again? No you wouldn't. So why buy these?

I will WITHOUT DOUBT buy all of these ! Yes i have them like everyone else does, With Downloads now taking over i don't know if these will chart never mind make Number 1,but i will do everything i can to get them in the Charts, And a Number 1 would have me jumping up and down like a loony ! I'm sure the wqhole debate will rage on again, but to those people who ask 'why buy these' well the answer is VERY VERY simple... I want to see The King at the top of the charts-that's why ! TCB.

I hope that there will be enough CD's in the shops each week. It was so difficult in getting them all 18 months ago. There are some great titles there and some almost certain #1's too. I'll get them

To MarkE, Why would Teddy Bear be embarrassing ? Everyone knows it is 50 years old! It may be embarrassing for today's 'stars' to be beaten to the top by someone who is long since up in the sky,but it surely would not be embarrassing for 'us true' Elvis fans like you state ! Tut Tut, TCB.

I concur with Ta2K's comments, we all know that we have got these songs, in some cases, many times over, but the main reason for buying them is to get our boy to the top of the charts and by doing so it should introduce his music to another generation of the music buying public. I also think that these singles in there original covers are quite cool, but I just hope that they produce enough to keep the fans happy, as last time there was just so much hassle in getting them.

Am I the only one to have noticed that (Marie's The Name Of) His Latest Flame was included in the previous singles box set?! Is this the height of repetition or just a mistake? Hopefully the latter.

Memphis Flash, ta2K, Dave Wyatt and Ethel Higginbottom - if you guys were Eskimos I could sell you ice. What's all this fascination about getting Elvis back in the charts? The charts don't mean anything anymore. He conquered the charts years ago at a time when they meant something. Elvis will always be around and his music will always be heard. Are you saying that after the last lot of No.1 singles got into the charts there was a huge upsurge in sales of Elvis product? I think you'll find there wasn't. His music will always sell, regardless. But Sony BMG also realize that there are Elvis fans who'll buy anything with his name on it - even if it means standing in line outside of stores to get "limited edition" singles because they have numbers on them. Big deal. Genuine collectables are things that have a little history attached to them. Manufactured "collectables" aren't worth shit. But if enough people are prepared to buy these things then the record company will continue to release them. That way they don't have to do anything that's really creative. Just repackage the same old stuff again and put it out there with a "limited edition number" on it. The loons will snap 'em up pronto.

I will not buy the same old songs for the sake of trying to get Elvis to No.1. That's insane. You think Lisa Marie cares as much as you do about a number one and it's her father! No, only Sony/BMG care that you spend on this. How many times can you buy the same product over & over & over? How many times? The term limited edition became meaningless over 20 yrs ago when it seemed everything started to have that tag on it. It was a money making ploy back then and nothing has changed. Instead, how about trying to make Elvis contemporary with an updated sound to a little known track that most people dont know? I would like to see Elvis No.1 again but with a new sound like ALLC did a few years ago. A package like this will not introduce his music to new fans. The music has been out there for years & years so there was always product to buy if new fans want to find out about his music. This is purely a money making scheme & Sony/BMG know there are a number of fans who have to have everything and will buy this to always turn a profit. It kinda sickens me.

Don't waste your money on this crap! What a scam. The end is now. Absolutely nothing new other than recycle after recycle. Sony/BMG are in business to make money, but this is ridiculous. Not me! No way! Even FTD for us diehards has reached absolute bottom. I figured it had to happen eventually.

To Harvey Alexander and Co... I actually don't give a you know what about the supposed 'Collectibility' or 'Limited Editions' tag linked to products. I'm not buying them because they have a Number on them. That does not give me a thrill in the slightest. I support my football team and want them to win the League,i want them to always be top, I want Elvis to be No.1 because i would love to see his name at the top of the Charts in the Newspapers, I am an Elvis fan and what him to keep getting more and more recognition. We've all heard the rumours about the scouse boyband being Favourite for Xmas No.1,being tipped to fill the top 10 positions in the chart in one go,i am dreading this happening ! I want all statistical 'records' to belong to The King,THAT'S why i will buy them,I am by no means flushed with cash but i see Elvis as being worth far more than a few pounds a week to buy a Cd. I will buy them and i will hope other 'fans' do as well and i hope that together we can get The King dominating the Charts yet again. You never know when it will be the last time,so when there are opportunities like this i say they must be taken by ALL of us !!! And no i could not be sold Ice if i were an Eskimo.I but what i want to buy for my own reasons, which i feel have been stated very concisely above. TCB.

Elvis has been gone now 30 years so what do you people expect? He ain't gonna visit a studio and record a new album! RCA/BMG is indeed in the market to make money - they are a record company and need profit, like any business to survive. At least they haven't forgotten about him and ideas like this keep Elvis in the public eye. They might not go all top 5 like the previous singles set but any of these tracks that hits the charts gives Elvis another week to add to his statistics as the most weeks charted artist in UK history. This is why the term 'The King' is still valid for Elvis and leaves all others behind!
ta2k wrote on June 07, 2007
Well said yelserp ! I think some people are expecting an album full of 'mislaid' songs to turn up from the heavens !!! A No.1 would make me soooo happy for Elvis !

The set looks nice, and it does matter to get Elvis in the charts, who can't say they are not bothered if Elvis makes it to the number one spot?... er, some fans on here! Elvis in the charts mean Elvis gets talked about in the news. Sure, it could have been more original - like putting the rare tracks out, some of which NEVER get heard by the public. Unfortunately, BMG/SONY are a business - what sells is not necessarily what fans want, it's the public who make BMG more money. FTD releases are fantastic for the fans, but not big earners for BMG. If a few thousand people buy these, it could make more Elvis fans! I have heard countless times fans becoming fans from the records they have bought, because they had read or heard about them in the news. They are nicely presented and are worth collecting - before eBay buyers snap them up (and they will!)

Like has been mentioned below, surely Marie... is a mistake? Anyone know how we can find out for sure? What would YOU replace it with if it was your choice, i'd maybe go with Just pretend... TCB.

Looking forward to getting these. I am dissapointed that Heartbreak Hotel won't get a shot at being #1. Great song, sounds as good today as it did 51 years ago. Hope we do get at least 1 or 2 #1's out of this lot.
