January 30, 2005 | Music
There are several (in store) promotional CD's for the 18 UK #1 singles. The two we found were for the month January. These CDs are CDRs.

Tracklisting for the January CD: All Shook Up / Jailhouse Rock / One Night / A Fool Such As I / It's Now Or Never / Are You Lonesome Tonight.

Bernard - good to see you here. We met in Memphis in 1984 remember? You're always holding a huge movie camera on your shoulder. Your EPFC Videos are also amazings. I have them all. Anymore new ones lately?

Still no singles in any of the shops in the West Country. 6th single & we still can't buy them. This has got to improve. (CD King, there have been a few videos since 1984(!) & I still carry the movie camera! I presume you're from the UK, you'll have to give me a clue!)

Bernard, Have the stores down there got the first three album re-issues yet (released 17-1-05). I've yet to see these in HMV Walthamstow; I would have thought that with the problems over the singles, these could be promoted in their place. Perhaps Sony/BMG could even lower their price nearer to the 'single' prices ie. £4.99? I'm sure they're losing a lot of future loyal Elvis fans, and has there ever been a better time to lure them?

ranger the cd singles in Belfast are £3.99 and the vinyl are £4.99 but i picked a few vinyl up for 33.99 too. Are they dearer over in England ?

rob-irish, The prices are the same I think (£3.99 & £4.99 for the vinyl). My point is that people new to Elvis will see Elvis at No.1 or No.2 but with no product on the shelf. As the first three LP's were apparently re-released on CD(again!) on 17th January, why don't Sony/BMG provide the stores with these re-issues at a cheaper price (ie. £4.99...even £3.99) and put them where the missing singles should be? They look much better than the recent 'gold' and 'silver' hits albums which are being used for this purpose in many stores, as they have the wonderful '56 and '57 sleeves with Elvis's image. Just a thought.
