This is sort of what I was hoping for on an 'official' 30th anniverary release or an FTD release. This is what FTD should be all about. I wont buy bootlegs anymore.
JimmyCool wrote on November 14, 2008
A dream come true! Hope it's crystal clear quality...
Natha wrote on November 14, 2008
I have given up on an FTD release, so I will go for this one. The hunt may go on, but the import/bootleggers produce releases I am waiting for. So while sony et al is hunting, I will sit back and enjoy.

Coincidentally, Ernst announced the Complete Works (the 30 original albums on CD with revamped sound, book, and bonus tracks) to be released soon. So I guess that ends the discussion on the market not supporting such a massive product. I like what the official label did with the remake of TTWII, but it pales in scope when compared to "International's" forthcoming product. If they've got the RCA recorded and MGM filmed stuff to work from the final result may be outstanding.
mature_elvis_fan75 wrote on November 14, 2008
Steve i agree, but it will never be what the label is about, just wondering why you will never buy imports again?
Rob Wanders wrote on November 14, 2008
this is phantastic, if its in top-soundquality!?
Steve V wrote on November 14, 2008
Mature - Ive bought many bootlegs (I dont call them imports) since the 70's. What Ive always found is that sooner or later the bulk of what Ive bought gets released officially. I cant tell you how many outtakes/live LPs & cds, & video Ive bought that eventually wound up getting released. For example the Theres Always Me CD series. They were great but 90% of that stuff is available now. I still have a few in my collection like the Madison Feb 1970 shows, but even these as good as they are , suffer from some quality issues that make it hard for me to revisit very often. Also Ive known some pretty creepy characters over the years that were behind some of the boots Ive bought and Id rather not support people like this. With this set , I will be damn surprised if all the material is top notch quality. Even the official TTWII release of the original movie is bad quality. Will have to wait & see I guess, but basically thats my opinion on bootlegs. Plus I agree with the FTD policy to try & put the bootleggers out of business.

If the track list in the DVD is of complete footage, than this is and OUTSTANDING release. If not, it's just the same that is available for over four years but with a different package. I'll wait for more information and The Elvis News review! :)

This is the type of material that FTD should be looking to release on CD and Warners to be releasing on DVD/Blu Ray. I agree if the sound quality is perfect and the DVD's are also watchable/clear/picture and sound perfect, then this is a fantastic release!! Does anyone know where i can purchase this set from and if so how much? I've trailed thru the internet looking for it since it was announced on this site but to no avail! My heart is still set on an expanded version of ELVIS ON TOUR...think how much material MGM have of this tour which featured 'Elvis in 15 cities in 15 nights'...each show filmed and recorded...plus off camera and rehersals and out-takes...Man what a great set that would make.
Ronaldv wrote on November 14, 2008
Pedro, I think waiting is no option with this release. Only 1000 copies are available. It will be sold out before you know it. In a couple of years this box is worth the double price for sure! Grab it if you have the chance!
mature_elvis_fan75 wrote on November 14, 2008
Steve i agree that most outtakes do come out at some time on Ftd and at one time even the regular releases,so i have always tryed to stay away from most of those outtake imports aka bootlegs, but things like the july 70 rehearsals are very welcome in my collection,i really dont think Ftd will release them in full form if at all,and if they are,i will be dissapointed in the cheap packaging,i have to admit im a bit surprised that your not for imports,no doubt there is plenty of crappy releases, but a few some are top notch,by the way do you mean you ran into bad sellers or people behind the releases?
mature_elvis_fan75 wrote on November 14, 2008
I might add im not interested in this release, the outtakes i have seen didnt do much for me,i have heard there was some put out that were good but again, too much money for me to spend,by the way there are concerts in this set that have beeb put out already by Ftd or regular label, or am i mistaken?
Jerome-the-third wrote on November 14, 2008
I feel this release promises too much..
Steve V wrote on November 14, 2008
Mature - both bad sellers & bad people, some were even put behind bars. I made up my mind not to indulge the bootleggers after that. Thats why the FTD label was such a welcome at first. The many quality LP releases such as The Burbank Sessions, Sullivan shows, etc have all made their way to official releases. Im more of a 50's/ 60's fan so everything that I like is already out there. I would like a release like this if it is in superb quality, otherwise , no interest. I agree with Jerome 3 that it promises too much. ELvis deserves a quality release on his 2 documentary films as well as a quality anthology DVD release. There is too much garbage out there.
burninglove92 wrote on November 14, 2008
This set is absoultey stunning, however is ernst really this stupid not to offically release these long awaited concerts, please the fans beg ftd to release a deluxe edition of that's the way it is. i would like a deluxe set of all the concerts with all the dialogue and band introductions, and a 2nd deluxe set with all the remaining footage of al the concerts with clear and sound and a remastered pictures. it may take time, but it will become a huge success, that's the way it is, is the long awaited project that ernst is doing nothing about. all we want is this to be released with a nice booklet with loads of info and pics. please ernst get your act together, we want this
mature_elvis_fan75 wrote on November 14, 2008
Steve there is indeed too much junk out there, and i also agree that this release promises alot and its a shame that no real effort has went into Thats the way it is & On Tour,Do they not have complete shows,so many things Elvis are bits & pieces!
mature_elvis_fan75 wrote on November 14, 2008
Ftd wont be releasing any ttwii or on Tour footage, they dont own it and they say its too expensive for them to do anything with it,i also dont see a proper release of either film being done,i agree also about an anthology set,all you get are crappy thrown together ones!
FJE wrote on November 14, 2008
What I fail to understand, and this goes for all so called limited editions as well, is why print only 1000 copies when they can sell 10,000. Yes, I know in some ten years time these may fetch double or triple their current price, but who cares? Still, I will not be rushing to buy this until I know what the audio and video quality is. I surely do not want to end up with the awful quality Warner trusted on us with the "unreleased" outtakes on the recent 2-Disc release of TTWII.
Jacquie Ulmo wrote on November 14, 2008
Please... I couldn't find anywhere how to order or get it... Could someone pls give me a clue? Nay estimated price already for this superb kit?
circleG wrote on November 14, 2008
I'm excited but i'm also reserving judgment (of course all 1000 copes will have sold by then). I bought the concerts on bootleg a few years ago and the quality was fair except where it was lifted from the special edition where it was obviously excellent. we're all so eagerly waiting for something along these lines from turner/MGM/whoever that its hard not to put money down for this set but I too will wait for it to be reviewed. A deluxe 30th anniversary edition would be great but right now that doesn't look hopeful.
mature_elvis_fan75 wrote on November 14, 2008
You mean 40th! lol yea still no proper release!
Viva wrote on November 15, 2008
As has been stated by others here, this is just the sort of thing FTD should be getting their teeth stuck into. Unfortunately, I think it is simply impossible for an official "Complete Works" to happen, there are just too many disputes between the owners of the various video, audio, song publishing rights, performers rights and God knows what else for a project of such a huge scale to take place. Blimey, they can't even re-release the "Moody Blue" album in it's entirety without removing "Let Me Be There" due to legal problems. So, bearing that in mind, the best we can hope for is that the bootleggers do The King justice and make a proper job. Anyone seen the above release? I'd like to know what standard we're talking about here, and just how "Complete" is this?
mature_elvis_fan75 wrote on November 15, 2008
I dont really expect a 6 dvd set or anything, but a nice 2 dvd set with at least one complete show would be nice,i cant understand why they havnt released a complete show from ttwii.as for Ftd they dont own the tapes and they say cost is too high, this is really for mgm to do,but its not on there to do list!
burton wrote on November 15, 2008
As usual, these things are advertised to temp us true Elvis admirers. Again no info on where to buy these or how much. Us U.K. residents are always given a short shrift & well shafted over these matters. It's like saying we've got these but you can't have them but have a look & be jealous.

The usual nonsense. I'm happy with what I have, I don't play it that often anyway.
Wiebe wrote on November 15, 2008
Of course it's not as easy for BMG or EPE to release anything, since they do have to pay royalties etc. to artists that contibuted to ETTWII. I am happy with all they released and think that they're waiting for BlueRay to become the norm before they remaster and release anything else. I think the same goes for Elvis On Tour. In the meantime we can enjoy this package. I'm sure it won't hurt sales of an official release. The complete shows on CD are interesting, wonder how they got them and of course if the quality is as good as the released ones. I hope they're not edited from the reel sound. That would be a bummer.

I think this is the ultimate release of TTWII.....exactly the one this docu deserves...
GEORGE (GK) wrote on November 16, 2008
This is how RCA and Warner (they bought the rights from MGM) should release this DVD and CD. Make it a "huge boxset" including unreleased material. Same goes for "Elvis on Tour", which the Fans, want so badly ! What are they waiting for ?
mature_elvis_fan75 wrote on November 16, 2008
Ciscoking i really respect your view on this subject, but i feel the proper respect for ttwii and On Tour would be an official release, dont they have complete shows? isnt it normal when releaseing a concert film to include a complete show?
BuzzingBee wrote on November 16, 2008
It looks like we going to have at least 2 or 3 complete shows on DVD here and al lot of unreleased stuff too. whooaah !yess. Imagine 6 shows uncut and most not released before. I'm not surprised they only have such a little number available. Just worried I'll get mine. Whatever it will cost , next year on ebay you got to pay double. This is a genuine collectors piece. After buying all sorry most of the new BMGs and FTD's such a big set is a very nice closing of this Elvis year. Oh I would hate Xmas if I can have this under my tree (I don't mind buying it myself, Santa;-)
circleG wrote on November 19, 2008
viva just out of interest what was the legal problem with 'let me be there'?
BBManTwo wrote on November 21, 2008
Great Box ! If this is a test for bringing us next year the Elvis on Tour 72 Box carrying 6 shows from that era...then we're doing great ! Hope Jorgensen will do that (imagine with 3 DVDs that could come with it...wow man then we have not been waiting in vain for such material. Anyone knows more about this project ?
BBManTwo wrote on November 22, 2008
As a follow up on the recent comments, also this: BMG is loosing out on millions of sales due to the fact that E on T 1972 Box is not being released by FTD (or main BMG label). So fans like us that want to hear those great concerts can't help but buy the available in good quality CDs that are on the market (Hamptons, Virigina, Greensboro, a.o. made by bootspeople whom you really can't blame, can you), but E&R haven't been reading all these comments of ours or have not been able to convince their superiors to finally (after 30 years of waiting) bring it out. To say the least: it is unfair to all of us.
JerryNodak wrote on November 26, 2008
Go ahead and buy it. That's your choice. I don't deal with bootleggers. As for millions in sales? You're dreaming! Give me some of whatever you're smoking.
davidbriggs wrote on December 11, 2008
That's the way it should have been released officially years ago! If SONY/BMG, WARNER and all the other companies in charge keep on missing their chances to finally make this stuff available to the public, I can't help them. It's their revenue that's going lost. Look at DVD-releases of other artists; what has been offered to Elvis fans, is simply a joke. Where is a proper TTWII-Box release, not to mention On Tour... VIVA LOST WAGES!
