Steve V: Don't feel alone. I bought it last year too. Kevan Budd did a fantastic job. I was glad I bought it at the time. I'm looking forward to this 2 disc FTD version.

JerryNodak - I too was very happy with the Budd reissuses of the 50's albums. I will keep them for the car. This FTD will be the one I play at home! I hope there is sufficient material for the 2nd LP as well.

Another classic album" on FTD, proving the cynics wrong... Steve V: that was no gimmick on last year's Kevan Budd remaster! I doubt the sound here will be improved: it' s the packaging and extras that make this a must-buy!

Great cd but wheres the missing out takes what are they waiting till 2007 for elvis presley rerelease no7 with more out takes and dsd sound ect and not forgetting extra bonus tracks and also the vinyl release. With this release being his first lp they should do a box set with the whole lot on and call it Elvis Presley Sessions the complete box set and use the orginal art work plus a booklet with al the session notes ect and leave the sound alone NO REMIXES just the way the recorded it would suit me fine

A very interesting album and I too am looking forward to the out-takes of I Was The One. To add to what Mark64 was saying, only three of the tracks from the original album are represented with out-takes. The rest are made up from bonus material added in 1997. Now before people start crawling all over me, it's just an observation and not a criticism. It would be great to have heard some of the earlier 9 takes of Blue Suede Shoes and Tutti Frutti or 17 takes of I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Cry though.

Yes it would be wonderful to have outtakes from Blue Suede Shoes and others. But they don't exist!!! Back in 1959 an executive at RCA ordered to destroy all outtakes of their recording artists at the time. Not just Elvis recordings but everyones. As for the outtakes from the early 56 sessions, this is it friends. Enjoy because it is unlikely we will ever hear anymore. These survived by accident. For some of you the glass may be half empty but for me it is half full. I am thrilled that these outtakes made it, against the odds.

You may be right Lyle Ray as I heard a similar story about Buddy Holly's recordings. This "executive" must have been pretty bad at his job though, considering how many alternate takes exist already pre-59. The recent Loving You release by FTD for example, has around 50 takes of the title track and we have been spoilt over the years with countless alternate takes of 50's tracks. Who knows, Ernst and his crew seem to unearth recordings all the time, just look at the upcoming Sun project finding the new live version of That's All Right. Bootleg CD's like There's Always Me and Totally Stung have had alternate takes of I Was The One and Lawdy, Miss Clawdy for several years, so I'm not giving up hope just yet.

It is a shame that so few out-takes from the songs on the original LP version exist, most of those on this set relate to the bonus tracks. Many of the out-takes have been discovered at the ends of over-recorded tapes, which is why some are incomplete. I do not believe that BMG are holding out on us regarding the missing tapes, and that they are simply missing presumed destroyed.
Regarding the previous comment about remixing these songs, no-one have ever said that they would be re-mixed. It is impossible to remix a mono tape as all of the sounds are locked together on one track on the tape. Remastering, which is being done, is a totally separate process which is done to improve the audio quality without changing the music.
