Hello, yeah - this turkey sucks.

The cd's Top Notch Nashville were compiled by a Dutch fanclub president. So these cd's are actually fanclub cd's. Although the songs aren't new (some one here said the songs are from older bootlegs) it could be nice to have these songs compiled on one album.

Yeah friends : this turkey really sucks ! What a rip off. Wrong and misleading info about outtakes never heard before... Lots of flase starts I expect on this new (Dutch fan club) CD... Fool fool fool (they think we are). Can't wait FTD brings us ASAP more (still available) outtakes; maybe they buy them from egoïstic owners who don't want to share those with all fans (like the recent MSqG-8mm footage...). Just do it Ernst !

This is not a public domain songs. The songs wasn't released 50 years ago. That's makes it an import cd. So not official for the first time. The quality is also bad for sure. Only the RCA cd's has a good sound. Also not the best sound. And they don't released the complete. The sessions is ripped from different sources or from badly sounding old bootlegs. . And there's nothing new. Again for the quick buck(s). But who can eplain why there are fans who buy this ?

For Japio: every song was recorded in the 50's so they are almost 60 years... No matter if they are outtakes.

As far as I know it's 50 years from the first release, not the recording date. Take I'm A Roustabout for example, it's public domain 50 years from the release on 2nd To None. And it's only the way it was originally released. So remastered versions from 2000 will be public domain in 2050. However, not all copyright laws are the same in every country so it's not that easy to say.

I think it's - if it's not been released it's 50 years from recording date, if it's been released , it's 50 years from release date (providing it isn't already in public domain i.e. you must publish within the 50 years). I also think remastering doesn't make any difference, it's the original recording that is copyrighted..For example if you reprint a book with different cover, it makes no difference to the copyright content material, it's still the same. Probably talking a load of round objects, but it would seem logical. I'll wait for the SACD version so I can hear what it would have sounded like if it had been issued in vinyl.

In the picture on the cover Elvis looks annoyed...kind of like many of us fans who are annoyed by these types of releases. I won't put anyone down for wanting it or buying it, but the releases come so quick and furious from FTD, alt labels and Sony Legacy that you feel your head spinning.

Too much of anything is not good, and releases like this dont deserve anything but a laugh.

mature & Deano1 - Amen to that. What is the point of these releases? it is almost as if all respect is lost for his legacy.

Is this gonna be the (marketing) way forward ? EPE Inc/Graceland sales strategy for 2013 & beyond...cashing in royalties from those wishy washy record labels that pay EPE some money and promise they'll make Elvis sales huge again...right ?!! Did Jack Soden approve of this or Balton ? Or worse; Cilla or LMarie ???

If this cd is public domain ( next year 70 years) what it is not. But then would gets EPE no royalities. When you make a public domain . you'll pay Buma (holLand), Sabam ( belgium), gema ( germany) and many more the money. They asking you the writers of those songs and then they (probaly0 pay them. EPE don't get anything. Also not Sony. But there also acts who's not a member of these organisations. So they dont get paid. And yes all those releases - even from Sony- has only to do making a quick buck. But when sony released an album the artist gets paid for it. It's a good idea to make it to 70 years before it becomes Public domain songs. Then we finaly free from this stupid compilations.

And away we go !!! This way, Sony could be selling Elvis outtakes still in 3013 ! Not a bad idea actually....Why not go for it and release those at a ridiculous low< price in all supermarkets of the world (impulse buys when paying at cash register...) For sure, at a price of 5 Euros, 5 dollars or 50 p. in the UK.....anything sells and EPE Inc gets again more money. !
