Timi Yuro Died

April 02, 2004 | People
Rosemarie Timotea Aurro, better known as Timi Yuro, singer, born in Chicago 4 August 1940, died March 30 2004 in Las Vegas.

Her impassioned rendition of "Hurt", which had been a rhythm and blues hit for Roy Hamilton in 1954 was one of Elvis' favourite songs to perform on stage, usually doing a reprise of the song's ending.

I suspect the reason Timi Yuro was mentioned is because of the song "Hurt", though it was probably Roy Hamilton's version that influenced Elvis to record it - and he was certainly someone whom Elvis admired. If talking down other artists is in the remit of being an Elvis fan then I'm afraid it's a trait we can well do without. Admiring other singers is quite alright. Elvis was quick to mention his admiration for others. I think I'd rather follow his example than not to give a "rat's ass" about anyone else. Is our faith and admiration in Elvis so weak that we need to? Well I certainly don't think so.

Jimmy-Cool? Yeah, and sarcasm is deceidedly uncool! I doubt if you've heard of half of the artists that Elvis listened to and inspired him. I'm just glad he was a better example of acceptance of others than some of you seem to be. Remember the day Elvis died? And how many cruel jibes did we Elvis fans have to endure, and still do? Think of that when you dismiss an artist's death as something to be sarcastic about. Pathetic!!
