For the price ($9.98 in U.S. shops), I think this is a terrific deal - way better than the off-label public domain jobs that have infiltrated the marketplace in recent years. Sure, I can quibble that the tracks aren't in chronological order, but they do seem to be at least thematically arranged (rockers on disc one, ballads on disc two, and gospel on disc three . . . more or less), so it does make for a pleasant listening experience. And since the material is strictly limited to 1954-61, we don't have jarring seques like we do on the old Worldwide Gold Award Hits, Vol. 2 vinyl box (remember 1970's "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" slamming into 1956's "Paralyzed"? Yow! Who green-lighted THAT train wreck?!!). My only complaintwith this new set is that someone screwed up and put "I Believe In the Man In The Sky" on disc three twice! The second track is supposed to be, simply, "I Believe." That's what ya get for puttin' interns in charge of mastering comps off their iPods, Sony/BMG! Anybody know if they're going to fix this particular mess-up?

Its great to see the poor cat on the street can afford a decent Elvis record with a cool cover and a nice label. The one to get behind, all Elvis fans, who hate people remixing his music is Spandox, especially "Riding the Rainbow, its a reggae album, which suits Elvis' Polynesian, Rasta, man soul, in my Opinion. Anyway its Spandox meets Elvis or Elvis digs Cones and its all Reggae remixes.
P.s. I've never met Spandox or bought any of his albums, but this is good stuff folks!!!

Both albums appear to be great value BUT we are reverting back again to the 'Greatest Hits' packages. Looks as though this is what we can now expect to get on the mainstream label for the next few years with the relative failure of 'Viva Elvis' The Album. The proposed 'Duets' album has also been put on the backburner according to Sony as they are now reluctant to show any form of innovation in case of another failure. The FTD label now appears to be the main source of interesting Elvis material with outtakes, alternate takes and interesting booklets.

Same mistakes as PD cd's so i guess Sony are trying to compete with the PD market.

Good cover but annoyingly reveresed picture, typical RCA,remember "Elvis Country" the giveaway picture of a young Elvis
colourized from b&w gave Elvis with brown eyes lol. I thin RCA took this on board, because later on I saw the same pic with his eyes blued correctly !

Yet another "Ultimate Elvis Presley Collection" by Sony...? According to my dictionary, the adjective "ultimate" stand for
1. last; ending a process or series. 2. maximum; decisive; conclusive. 3. highest; not subsidiary. So how is it possible to release more than one Ultimate collection?? Oh, I see. It has something to do with money, greed, lack of genuine respect for Elvis as an artist, and a whole bunch of indifferent, lazy record buyers. Hm, what's next? Oh yeah, I'll have to check the meaning of "Stupid" in the dictionary.
