The OEPFC Magazine

May 26, 2004 | Other
The June/July issue dropped on our doormat this week. This issue has a remarkable exclusive interview with their own president, Todd Slaughter. Between the ads you can also find another part in the "Pages From The Past" series, "For The Love Of Sun", "Calling Elvis" and more.

Hi guys, I am with Kempo on most of his comments. Whilst I certainly appreciate all the work and efforts put in by TS I do think he is too anti-EPE bias in some of his prints. Whilst I too tend to wear my heart on my sleeve I don't have my head buried in the sand and can make up my own mind about whats right or wrong with the EPE running of things. I think Todd appears to take everything far too personally; we are all pulling in the same direction at the end of the day and we are all in touch thanks to one man and one man only ELVIS.

Kempo. I think you'll find that Todd met Elvis on more than one occasion. Despite his major health problems he still does the business in regard to promoting Elvis. The magazine may contain a lot of ads but I've yet to see a major fan club magazine that doesn't promote the sale of goods in regard to its subject. I know you didn't make that complaint but it is one that is sometimes levelled at the magazine. If you read his interview in the current addition you'll see that he doesn't suffer fools glady, including Elvis Presley Enterprises. He has a forthright manner which is refreshing in a world (the Elvis world that is) where there are far too many who will tell the fans what they want to hear, rather than the reality of the situation. We as fans should be glad of anything or anyone that promotes Elvis Presley (as long as it's done in a tasteful manner), and all this rivalry between certain fan clubs and individuals is so much stuff and nonesense. Elvis should be the binding thing that brings us together not push us apart.

Well if Todd takes it all too personally then that should tell us something. If he didn't care about Elvis' legacy then he wouldn't really care what E.P.E. got up to. It is unfortunate that because they own the rights to Elvis' name & image then they dominate everything. I'd rather see more tasteful things featuring Elvis, rather than some of the tacky stuff we've had in the past from E.P.E. Like Colonel Parker, sometimes they do a good job and sometimes they don't. At the end of the day Elvis is my main concern.

yes,it quite good this time!,but it wont beat the 'best' magazine "now dig this".(elvis:the man+his music)i've been a member of the o.e.p.f.c. for years and think they are 'ok' but i dont really like todd slaughter as he seems very arragant to me and acts a bit rude on the phone.i know he actualy met elvis but that dont make him the best or only fan in the world.(besides it was'nt as if he was friend of elvis'..he only met him once);apart from that,it's an ok magazine and good for any elvis fan and worth subscribing to.normaly i would only give it an 8/10,but this months mag is a 10/10.

I must say I found the Todd Slaughter interview very interesting and very well written. I have come across Peter Lucas's work previously and have always found his interviews, reviews and general articles to be 'no holds barred'. Definitely a writer to look out for.
