The Elvis musical train just keep rolling along and may that always be the case. As a Brit who has followed the Beatles since 1962 I find it hard to believe that they should have fallen out of the top 40 so quickly. I know they are no longer around, but their magnificence like Elvis is eternal.

Maybe Elvis fans are more loyal in their support than the Beatles and Cliff fans? When you think of it, all the Elvis tracks are standard tracks, nothing new or special. The Beatles album however had tracks not heard before (or at leased never released before) so it is a bit of a mystery. Maybe it's just because Elvis is so much better than the Beatles. And Cliff? Not in the same league I'm afraid.

This is fantastic, and it's the prove that Elvis must be hitting an younger generation. The 1st week probably was a reaction that “we”, loyal Elvis fans, had: buying our King's new disc and give him a great chart position. But the following weeks, it can't be just "us" the same old fans. It is just not possible. There is a lot of not only "Joe public" but also new fans that are discovering Presley and his music, following the TV program. And now, with the exposure of the duet with Susan Boyle, the CD will regain interest and probably will maintain, or increase, it's sales. There's new blood in Elvis fans, for sure. ThatYouVeryMuch, you are most welcome! About The Beatles album is a huge mystery. One thing I know for sure: The Fab Four deserved to be as equal as The King!

Brian, is that not the best week so far then, or did it sell better the second week ?

It was a great show and incredibly touching and I'm surprised how many people watched it who weren't Elvis fans. One young girl I know watched it because her late father was an Elvis fan! I liked the way Elvis' music was presented in context of the times. I hope we get a dvd release with full versions of the songs.

In today's first UK Midweek Album Chart (10th) 'The Nations Favourite Elvis Songs' album continues to hold on at No.9 with 9355 units sold. Going great guns and likely to stay in the Top 10 this week. The bad news is that the Susan Boyle/Elvis Duet looks like it is not going to sell very well at all charting at No.38 selling some 2,302 singles.
