The Complete Louisiana Hayride Archives 1954-1956

November 06, 2011 | Music

Amazon has placed sound samples of all the tracks from the upcoming MRS release of Elvis Presley ‘The Complete Louisiana Hayride Archives 1954 -1956’ on their website.

MRS would like fans to take note that tracks such as ‘Hearts of Stone’, ‘Money Honey’ and other such likes that were the worst recorded of the Hayride era, went through painstaking restoration. The evidence is now shown that these sound better than ever.

Also the first hayride show from 1954 is much clear than ever and the last show from 1956, is now more complete, correct and sharper than previously released.

For all those fans that were doubtful if MRS could improve this release as oppose to Sony's version bet you may have a change of mnd now??......maybe Ernst should let MRS deal with the 'Sun Box'???

WOW ! I ordered this set from Amazon just to get the Dec. '56 show at a cheaper price than on the "Beat" set from Sony. Looks like I made the right decision. The sound is pretty amazing for nearly 60-year-old radio recordings - can't wait for this one to arrive. "Oh, baby, baby, baby, baby..."

Orion, you bet you made the right decision ! I ordered it for the same reason . I purchased every MRS-release that came out so-far and was never let down . At last all the available Hayride-recordings in good sound and in the correct cronology! Always El.

amazon £10.99 on pre order. What a bargain. Shows exactly how ridicuously over priced the young man box set is now. Best release in a long while for me.

This is an off the wall comment, but it's not like I'm the fisrt on the forum to venture out there. Anyway, I, too, listened to the samples of the tracks on Amazon. Beyond the sound improvements, the thing that struck me was how amazing Elvis sounded live as early as 1955. I mean he was singing over screams with crude amplifiers (by no means Marshall amps) without stage monitors or anything like that. How Elvis, Scotty, and Bill (perhaps DJ) kept it together is a testament to talent these boys possessed from the start. King of Rock & Roll ? Damn straight !

Taken on its own, this is no doubt a quality release. But I don't like the way in which MRS has attempted to steal the thunder from RCA, whose 'Young Man' box set is the most promising release to come along for quite a while. Finally RCA are doing something right, unearthing a live 50s concert (the Holy Grail!!), only for MRS to jump on the bandwagon, so to speak.

Yes but the quality from MRS has proven to be much better on the earlier tracks than that of RCA and the new show from samples is pitch corrected. Do you really think Sony spent money on the 56 Hayride remaster. They did not. Thumbs up for MRS all the way.
