The Artist Collection Update

August 20, 2004 | Music
BMG offices worldwide will be releasing a new mid-price series in October. Called 'The Artist Collection', there will be 16 titles including one for Elvis which will contain 12 tracks.

The covers for the series have been designed by one of the world's leading alternative artists. The Elvis cover has The King's image composed by using a piece of cheese with alfoil for his mouth, pieces of leather fixed by a rivet punch for his eyebrows and star studs around his neck.

Last weel Elvis World Japan mentioned that this CD could be a CD + DVD combination.

Other artists in the series include Dolly Parton, Santana, Hall & Oates, Kenny G., Kylie Minogue and Eric Clapton. BMG is developing a marketing strategy to promote the series.

Why a single? I'm ready for more 5.1 releases. Several of the 70's albums were released in quad...shouldn't be too hard to convert those to 5.1. "No.1's" was great in 5.1 anddid well on the charts. Time to dust off those mixing boards and get back to it. As for new singles....hmmmmmmm....I'd go with a remix. Might be easy to do with "Clean Up Your Own Backyard"...and they could lift the video for it from the film...

I agree with ronbaker. i was listening to "clean up your own backyard" just the other day and thought it would make a great remix. it is an outstanding song with amazing lead guitar riffs. what do you think, bmg? it's the only way we're going to keep the ball rolling for the new fans out there. i love the original "a little less conversation" and "rubbernecking" versions but enjoy the remixes just as much. keep them coming, bmg.

While some of the titles in the series will be DVD + CD, BMG told EIN the Elvis release is CD only.
