Very hard to beat the Madison days, Event number 8 was and still is a real masterpiece and i'm intend to keep it.
Ronaldv, you are so right. Madison was the premiere importer. This one may be good for the fans that do not have Event Number 8.
Agreed with all 3 of you. I have the Madison release and it's great ! Always El.
not my thought!, I got the old madison version but venus sayd new source and i believe them they always release top notch stuff, And last time they where right about the new source to on the MSG 2 disc set! i'll take their words
some people do not have the old Madison release; now they are given a chance to own this concert in "Venus" quality . Why not ?
I have old Madison release but I will get this one too 'cause Venus label is the best label in underground Elvis world!
I have seen this CD for sale and could have VERY Easily have bought a copy.... but i am refusing to do so .....until i read a review of the SOUND....and i haven't read one comment on the sound of this 'new' release -YET!~
Great News! Even if the sound isn’t that "new" source, it's a great release. This concert is how it should have been Presley career in the 70's: Out an away with the Guernico Big Band! Just 6 or 7 guys rocking, that’s more than enough to put you in heaven! “See see Rider” is so dam good that you can feel the guitars and the piano, not over taken by the Orchestra. The same to Trying to Get to You, Polk salad or Johnny B. And Help me is just so fantastic.
I so agree, Pedro. If only Elvis realised how good this concert sounded without the orchestra maybe he'd have....... oh well, let's not go there. I've got this one on order.
The show ist special because it's just Elvis and the band. In my opinion, the show itself is the weakest of the March 74 tour that I know. The poorly designed stage seems pretty "lost" in the Astrodome. Unfortunately, the setlist is the same as always and should have been changed to other material to fit the reduced musicians and the venue. Elvis himself appears pretty uninspired. Nevertheless, the show is a must have for collectors because of its uniqueness.
Just listened to it. I can't tell the difference in sound. Don't waste your money!
got my copy of this cd today and the thing i got to say is that i just love this show and i think the sound is amazing but i don't know how the other releses have sounded like so to me this an amazing cd
Sound is a little better compared to the Madison release. Stick with Madison if you have that one, not worth buying again IMO
Just listened to it and the sound seems to have a lttle more punch and clarity to it. Don´t know if it is really another audio source. So if you don´t own it allready, get it!
