Set for release in Germany on November 24, 2006 is a new 2DVD set entitled "Stand By Me". It is a 3 hour documentary on Elvis' love for gospel.
Synopsis (in German):
"Wer die leidenschaftliche Musik von Elvis Presley vollständig begreifen möchte, kommt nicht umhin, sich mit seinen musikalischen Wurzeln zu befassen. Schon lange vor seinem Aufstieg zum King of Rock ‘n’ Roll war Elvis ein großer Verehrer schwarzer Gospel-Musik. Obwohl sie eine zentrale Rolle in der Ausprägung seiner Spiritualität, seines künstlerischen Ausdrucks und der Entwicklung seiner Karriere spielte, wurde diese Leidenschaft noch nie genauer beleuchtet als in „Stand By Me“.
Auf zwei DVDs zeigt „Stand By Me“ neben bisher unveröffentlichtem Material mehr als dreißig Stunden Gospelaufnahmen sowie legendäre Auftritte des Kings wie „Where Could I Go“, „Bosom of Abraham“, „In The Ghetto“ und viele mehr. The synopsis sounds good and I like the cover art of the DVD. But we already have the great 2-DVD-set "He Touched Me" and this one is around the same length (180 min.). I don't know, but the description sounds a bit like "He Touched Me"... We'll see.

Elvis fans are an international bunch so why should'nt other languages be used occassionally? I have no problem with German being used on the site evry once in a while. As egards the DVD it does indeed sound very similar to He Touched Me. Probably not for me.
