Songwriter Hal Blair Dead at 85

Songwriter Hal Blair, who co-wrote songs performed by singers including Elvis Presley and Della Reese, died Friday. He was 85. He began his songwriting and acting career in Western films, working with stars such as Gene Autry. He met his main songwriting collaborator, Don Robertson, in the early 1950s and they developed a partnership that last nearly five decades. He (co)wrote five songs Elvis recorded, "I Was the One", "No More"' "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here", "I'm Yours", "What Now, What Next, Where To" and "I Met Her Today".
