Remembering Wayne Jackson

Trumpeter Wayne Jackson, a member of the Memphis Horns, died on Tuesday, June 21.

Wayne, who formed the Memphis Horns with saxophonist Andrew Love, played on Elvis hits like "In the Ghetto" and "Suspicious Minds." The Memphis Horns can be heard on many hits, such as Al Green's "Let's Stay Together," Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline," Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer,"and Sam & Dave's "Soul Man,"  and the pair recorded with artists such as Alicia Keys, Jack White, Otis Redding, U2, Aretha Franklin, the Doobie Brothers and Isaac Hayes. 

The Memphis Horns were awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in February 2012 and inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2008.
