It even looks cheap. What kind of thought goes into the packaging? They put out a beautiful set on From Elvis In Memphis and to keep the momentum going follow it up with this. Good grief. Elvis King of the Comps once again.

I don't really have a problem with it. Its just two original albums sold together which has to be worth a dozen comps. Both live albums and both very entertaining.

Memphis: complete (FTD) show? MSG: enhanched sound? Probably not on both accounts, which is a missed opportunity. Still an awesome package though.. Essential for newbies.

money,money,money!-i'd reccomend sticking to the RCA/FTD version of "as recordered at live on stage in memphis" and stick to an afternoon in the garden" rca release from 1998.(which was in its enritey for the first time)Unless your a newby in the Elvis world and do not own either of these rca albums at-all??.(even then,i wouldn't waste my cash purchasing this box set as the albums are inferior to the one's i mentioned)..it seems epe/graceland will re-release the same old thing over and over and over till thier is no end??(as the old colonel once famously said in october 1977 "Nothing Changes")

I Like the cover and Some here reminds me of Lemmon and Matthau in the classic " Grumpy ol' Men". I've also have it in x numbers but that's not a reason to slain it!

pasa-ryo seems to be unaware that An Afternoon in the Garden is a different concert than As Recorded at Madison Square Garden - as the title indicates, it's the afternoon performance, the other one is the evening performance.

Personally, I prefer the MSG evening show. Afternoon show has even more throwaway oldies. No Impossible Dream and Elvis is way to upfront in the mix for my liking. Evening show mix is much more like the sound I heard at the Metropolitan Sports Center in Bloomington, Minnesota, on Nov. 5, 1971. I never play the afternoon show. Think I'll sell it on ebay and clear some space in my rack.

Hello, from anything but a commercial perspective this is an entirely unnecessary release. The BMG version of Memphis 1974 is ruined by easily the worst canned audience overdubs I have ever heard. The FTD version is so much superior to the mainstream one that it's amazing the latter hasn't been deleted and consigned to history as an error of judgement. The MSG evening show suffers from a terrible mix. And do we really think Elvis performed with urgency and remained a bona fide cutting-edge artist in this era? This is fan fodder.
