QuickPolls Come And Go

December 20, 2008 | Other

Not less than three quarters of the members that voted think that all Camden releases should be released on CD. Apparently a lot of fans like these "old budget" compilations with questionable tracklistings and cover art.

Approaching the end of the year our new poll is very simple: 2008 was a good  "Elvis Year"!

A good year? With the spancock rapes and the ruining of Christmas classics? No way!

2008? A good year? The only things that happened this year were the re-mix (Fine by me) and that godawful duets monstrosity. Based on that crappy album alone, anything good was overshadowed by that Karaoke disc. Perhaps we need a list of what actually has happened this year to remind us.

Don't know why, but reading these posts I have to think about those two grumpy old men from the Muppet Show :-) If all you can remember are a remix and a duets compilation you didn't pay attention; didn't the FTD Collector's label and various import labels like Madison release some gems which overclass the remix releases?

Love the comment from Kees! I wish I'd thought of it. Personally, I like both the remix and duets albums as they add some refreshing change to the numerous repackaging of his standards. It's a pity that they weren't promoted as I'm sure that they would appeal to the newer, younger fans. And of course, I can still listen to El's original recordings anytime I want to.

Spot on, Kees. Problem is, they not only remind us of the mentioned duo, they quite problably *are* grumpy old men too. And to call the other vocalists on the duets album karaoke-artists... I mean, come on. This goes way beyond a regular, healthy discussion about personal musical taste. Where did all this hate towards other artists and their music come from?

I'm only 19 and thought both the Spinquok and Christmas Duets CDs were pants. They don't appeal to youngsters in my case. They're just money-making messes. My little brother is 13 and when he heard the Spincook CD he threw up over his sister's High School Musical tee-shirt.

Ok guys, FTD releases aside, I've still to hear of anything good this year. Duets: Absolutely godawful, an affront to his talent. Pure garbage of the "Elvis Peanut Butter" variety. Grumpy old men? Ok Lex, can I be Waldorf? You can be Statler, and all the other muppets here can be Beaker. It's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights....
