Quickpoll

February 18, 2007 | Other
After the vivid discussion on our "Unchained Melody" review we wanted to know if you thought enough 1977 material had been released. 78 percent of the 269 voters felt they needed more material from this era.

For our next quick poll we go a totally different direction. This years swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated was partly shot in Memphis, Graceland was visited by the models too. So our new poll is: "a photo shoot with swimsuit models in the Jungle Room is good promotion of "Elvis"."

of course its very good promotion for Elvis, if your a young male teenager like myself, bein only 19 years old, this will attract younger fans to the Elvis name, very good, keep up the good promotion work!
Loesje wrote on February 18, 2007
What on earth has this got to do with Elvis' music and voice? As a woman I had to defend myself all my life for being an Elvis' fan... and now the male part of the universe starts with something like this? Strange poll!

Loesje, from the fifties until the early seventies you had a handsome man to look at in Elvis, give us guys something too :-)

I really don´t think Elvis would approve of these kind of sluts in his home. If you don´t think Elvis name is enough, maybe you should join another fanclub.

First, let me say that I think that girl is a beauty but I'd rather have her in my "jungle" room than in Elvis'. Don't people understand that he was an artist and not just an cult-icon? This makes the whole thing much more laughable imo...

Whatever happended to the ban on flash photography?
stanton wrote on February 18, 2007
Like I already said: the idea is not new, it is taken from Elvis`Polaroid pics he took of Linda in the Jungle Room. At the same time I don`t think it is something dirty or bad; I think it might remind the world of Elvis also being an adored and heartloving handsome man, not the sleeping beauty who missed mother nature`s highlights in rather dedicating himself to meditation and other mindresting helpful things. I believe Elvis would like the idea, too. He had an open mind for new things, modern ideas and also for fashion and beauty.

You bet, this is a good and positive marketing tool. I watched the special last night and it was mostly about filming in Memphis not just Graceland. There is nothing negative about this. During the filming at Graceland the background music was the remix of Little Less Conversation. I really think they could use the song Walking IN Memphis. I really dont see where these girls are sluts because they are professional models that keep thier clothes on. Its not like they are naked. Some people are jealous.

Nice looking girl and all that but somethings are sacred and stunts like this only go to cheapen the image of ELVIS.

I think it´s great ;) Elvis would have looooved it, I´m sure...

I'm not sure if this is "good promotion of Elvis" or not, so I'll hold back on the voting for now. I am absolutely certain however, that the girl pictured above is a real honey. Will she be on the regular tour? As for the comment: "I really don´t think Elvis would approve of these kind of sluts", you need to re-learn your Elvis matey: I am absolutely certain that Elvis would have banged her rigid given half a chance, and rightly so; this is Elvis we're talking about, not Elton John.

It's the start of the End.This should not be allowed. But after the Elvis rubber duck i'm really not surprised. Elvis is rolling in his grave.

I think it's great. Beautiful picture, beautiful girl and great promo. Don't understand why some of you call these girls names...very (p)rude and narrow minded. As we know, Elvis loved all kind of sports. So I guess he would have loved to give SI the opportunity to make some shots at Graceland. I'm sure he even would have been on some pictures too to promote sports.

This confirms once more that Sillberman's CKXE "only" interest is "money honey"; and EPE Mgmt has to follow what the boss says. That simple. Yet, as reported before, they could be making 8 million dollars by selling in 14 months to 450,000 hardcore fans the innovative FTD releases and DVDs we have been recommending, requesting & actually demanding. Now that would bring in some money and make fans happy, while paying and buying Elvis products from which CKXE and EPE would benefit anyway. Sports Illust. can't be blamed, but if we were in Bob's shoes, we would have brought in real Marketing Experts rather than Southern hillbillies that run the store and are just "yes men". Fans reactions warmly welcomed !

In reply to JK: Elvis liked many sports....But you right, Elvis is rolling in his grave; but it is not the end yet! Yeah, Elvis taking pix of Linda in swimsuit and then ...meditate, right?! C'mon, grow up. Allright now, why not make a deal with Cadillac and give all hardcore elvis fans a "discount" of 25% on all Caddies they would buy ? Or make a deal with Hilton hotels whereby Elvis fans staying in Hiltons around the globe would get a 35% discount on fares. Both companies made a lot of money when EP was still alive and Sillerman and EPE should make similar deals with them, but not only for their profit, let the elvis fans also get a kick out of this ! Welcome your comments fans!

stanton, you wrote: <the idea is not new> but in the end you also worte < He had an open mind for new things, modern ideas and also for fashion and beauty.> Something doesn't fit together there imo. Please rememebr that as long as Elvis lived, he always could've come up with a song or a concert that would make people forget about this kind of stuff. That's probably why he might've liked the idea (not the idea of a girl in his room, he liked that for sure, but to make pictures for a magazine). JK, are you the same guy as from the Beach Boys Britain-board? If so, happy birthday, even though I'm a little late...

Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue at Graceland. Lets see?? Elvis/Graceland. Girls/Graceland. Girls/Bikinis/Elvis/Graceland. Yup, a natural fit.

We all know elvis liked pretty woman, but as said this is all about money and no they have no respect for elvis,i guess this will help him with the kiddies, maybe they will buy a cd or 2!

It's a great promotion for Elvis, Graceland and Memphis ;-)
Robban wrote on February 19, 2007
This is/was Elvis home, he lived there and yes he liked beatiful women, he was also a rebell, but don´t you think this has gone too far. Where´s your respect for Elvis? Maybe they should fill Graceland yarn with (half)naked girls, so Elvis could get new fans, or will the new fans go where the girls go and leave Elvis when the fun is over? This isn´t the way to get Elvis new loyal fans believe me grow up boys and be men.

ELVISSIMON: I want to know what is so sacred. Elvis is not a god, religion, or cult is he. But then again there is a Candlelight Vigil for Elvis every year so maybe Elvis is a religion. I am confused by your remark. Again I think the SI shoot at Graceland is great for ELvis and Memphis. I certainly would not approve of a Playboy or Penthouse model being photographed for thier magazine.

There's a pretty little thing, waiting for the King, down in the Jungle Room. (Lyric from the song "Walking in the Memphis") Beautiful Girl in a Beautiful house. Definately, good Promotion, for the Elvis legacy. It keeps "GRACELAND" and "ELVIS" current.

The thing we may consider is whether or not people are really attracted to the music of Elvis this way. Do the other sites get attention? I doubt it. These fleeting items don't seem to make an impact related the background, but rather on the superficial level of sexual drive. After that it is forgotten. Beaches are also not more frequented because some famous pretty girl laid down in the sand there or took a bath in the water. Furthermore, I don't think it is a question of whether or not Evis would have loved to see these girls hanging around. The question is whether or not it will contribute to the name and fame of Elvis (and not whether or not he would make a pass on the girl involved). It would make more sense to produce remixes fitting in the music of this time frame and hence on a shell-level recognizable by the younger generation. This way there is more chance of exposing youngsters to his unique and incomparable music. Let it be said too that I am not a fan of remixes, but it would suffice as an entry to the real egacy of Elvis.

The most funny is that once again fans seem to be able to know what a man who's dead for almost 30 years will think about it?! I think it is good promotion for the girl, the swimming suit and maybe for the attraction Graceland. In my opinion that last thing is so ugly that any change is for the better :-).

Look, this is a nice looking girl, in Elvis' house, so Elvis will be mentioned in some quarters for a while. I don't see anything wrong with it. Although i cannot see the link between this and new people wanting to buy Elvis records-what difference will it make? ''Cor look at her in Elvis' house, let me see what he sounds like''... I don't think so,Unfortunately. TCB.

If anything was going to bring Elvis back from the here-after, I'd say this would do it! I think he would LOVE having all these swimsuit models hanging around his home. :)
