Quick Poll

February 12, 2006 | Other
More and more well known artists like Elton John, George Michael, Kate Bush, Robbie Williams, Suzie Quatro (with James Burton) and recently Pearl Jam with Robert Plant ("Little Sister") record Elvis songs or tributes to his life. Currently a cover of Elvis' "In The Ghetto" is #1 in Poland. In our last poll we asked you if you thought this shows that Elvis is still "hot"! A real big majority of 92 percent of the 223 voters thought this was the case.

With a "new" SUN compilation coming out almost on a weekly basis we want to know if we have seen enough SUN-material releases.

There are really alot of new SUN releases out since 2004 but mostly these don't contain "new" material. If you look at it like that, we really have had enough SUN-material releases. But I think until the ultimate FTD SUN release we haven't had enought of it.

I bought Elvis At Sun. That's enough Sun for me. Ernst's forthcoming book/cd notwithstanding. I'm finished buying Sun material.

I agree with tcb_guy. We have had enough with original SUN master compilations and the alternate and live versions are always the same. The latest SUN release in my collection is the Sunrise 2 discs set. My next will be FTD's SUN release. I voted for more (new) SUN-material releases.

When I have the FTD Sun release in my hand I will have enough of this era. So right now I don´t have enough.

I think there are still some essential SUN-releases in the pipeline. I'm looking forward to the FTD SUN-cd/book-project and part 2 of the 'Memphis Recording Service'-book/dvd. These 2 releases are really worth buying, so I definitely haven't had enough SUN-releases. On the other hand, imho there are definitely too much throwaway cd-compilations of previously released SUN-masters (sometimes mixed with previously re-re-re-released Hayride recordings) on the market.

When we have "Satisfied", "Uncle Penn", "Tennessee Saturday Night" (all of which are supposed to exist) and every other grunt, groan, or intonation...then we will have enough. This is the most important part of Elvis' music...the beginning. Never enough!
