Pressplay Signs Licensing Deal With BMG

October 15, 2002 | Music
Online music subscription company Pressplay said on Monday it has signed a licensing deal with leading record label BMG. BMG becomes the fourth of the five major music labels to license its content to Pressplay, a joint venture of Vivendi Universal and Sony Corp. Beside Sony and Vivendi's music arms, EMI Group has also licensed its content to the service. With this deal (part of) Elvis' catalogue will be added to the download service.

Pressplay, which allows users to download songs to their computer and then copy them to portable devices or burn them to CDs, said it offers more than 120,000 songs and that the deal would add "tens of thousands" more.
