Plugged In And Geared Up

March 15, 2009 | Music
According to a posting by "Tallhair" on the FECC forum the Gravel Road import label will soon release the CD "Plugged In And Geared Up". This CD contains the complete and uncut rehearsal from July 29, 1970 from the original vintage tape. The sound should be far better than on the original release of this material long ago. "Plugged In And Geared Up" will be the first upcoming release from the Gravel Road label, to be followed up by the previously announced title "Hang Loose and Get Down".

it will be great to get these more complete, i just hope the producer dosen't screw up the sound as he has done on the last few releases.

"Plugged In And Geared Up" is surely another "must" as the great Elvis import "spring" / revival continues to win new fans and cheer older ones who realize that old titles can't hold a candle to modern sound-upgrades and presentation. TCB: it would be more fair to acknowledge that there was a *minor* controversy among a handful of fans who prefer their CD's essentially mastered "loud" in so many words with the last release by the revived Fort Baxter and Gravel Road. That fantastic title (the otherwise wildly-acclaimed single-disc 2008 upgrade of both volumes of "Brightest Star on Sunset Boulevard") apparently hued more to the "warmer" sound that audiophiles prefer in vinyl and CDs that aim to match that sound, with silences being silent and so forth. In any event, given the reception of the last release, it would seem we're in for another boffo Elvis import do-over! I hope the Easter Bunny will be bringing this one for me. It's been a true holiday for hard-core Elvis fans.

This material, the complete rehearsal, was also released on the CD, "THE CREAM OF CULVER CITY", with very good sound. It will be interesting to see how they improve on it.

Is that what this was on -- besides the tracks that made it to the then- RCA/Sony/BMG? If it's a 2009 release, it's surely got an up-to-date sound upgrade and modern production values for the liner notes, photos, etc. I'm assuming the other came out well over ten years ago... I don't have it, at the very least!
