So What? That's pretty uncharitable, Kees. I think it's great that she's putting out another album. It will be interesting to see which direction it takes. Hopefully there'll be a ballad or two in it. I don't think Elvis would appreciate his fans being mean-spirited towards his daughter and I'm sure he would be very supportive of her career. For ther record, I think she's accomplished something which he didn't -- being able to write songs herself. I'm sure that if Elvis would have written more songs himself had that side of his talents been more nourished. Anyway, let's have a listen to "Now What" before we so hastily judge it. (:

Something to really look forward to - not! Is that Lisa's Cd playing in the backgroung, nope, mistake, just three old dogs with a severe case of distemper...! So this is why she sold EPE to guarantee the sales of future 'escapes'. Face it Lisa, your dad had more talent in his sideburns....
Neckywoudje wrote on January 18, 2005
With all respect, I think it's a bit fake. The music isn't really her's. They worked for years on the first one and she began only singing in her mid 30's. It isn't natural, it's just because she's the daughter of the king.

Why are we continually reading about this ignorant, arrogant, untalented brat for ?? She is rude, has zero charm and zero charisma and sells the majority of family silver that her Dad sacrificed his life for. And you know what, hundreds and thousands of people think the same as me.

I wont be buying now what. lisa's already got enough money from me and besides she cant even sing. Shes got a deeper voice than Elvis had.

Walk a mile in my shoes, before you abuse, criticize and accuse, then walk a mile in my shoes..... I think some people who judge Lisa have to play this song more often......nobody's perfect!

Apparently most people here are not members of the Lisa Marie Presley fanclub... :-) Some of you seem to really hate her, I don't... I think she's funny, pretty, honest (so honest she's rude now and then) and actually liked her first album. "Everyone's entitled to one stupid-ass mistake" Ah oh (teletubbie impersonation) Jim Semple and hundreds and thousands of people will disagree with me now!!! That's fine we'll just have a beer and talk about Elvis, right Jim? Let's see Now What? Oh right, back to work...
pacer1965 wrote on January 18, 2005
I like that comment spinout that was really funny.I bet alot of Elvis fans did buy lisa's last album though. I did not say i did not like her.I dont hate anyone i was only saying that i dont think much of her singing. Other people may think she can sing but i dont. And i would still say that even if she was not Elvis' daughter. I did not say it to be nasty and good luck to her with her new album.

For the doctor: With a title as "Now What" which appears to be a statement to anyone critising her (Lisa Marie F*****g Presley as she calls herself) I couldn't resist a little wordjoke ... as for the rest, she can do whatever she wants (and so can I).

Jealousy is a UGLY thing!! You people talk about people being rude and you do the same very thing in here. Talk about HYPOCRITES. Why condemn her when 3/4 of you know nothing about her and I don't say that lightly. You call yourselves Elvis fans. BULLCRAP!!!!!!....Elvis wouldn't wipe his shoes on you guys for taking craps at his daughter, especially when they are very uncalled for. Who cares how deep her voice is? Does that make her a bad person? Who cares how much money she has? Her daddy worked his tail off so she wouldn't have to worry about a thing. That is her god given right. You people make me really sick. Then yall take another stab at her about spending your money on her. Do you honestly think she cares what you think of her? That is why she is like she is, has the attitude she does. Cause of stupid people acting silly when they have no sense of what they are even talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Elvis were here....I am so sure it would be totally different!!!!!

wooooo hooo!!! lisa is back whens the cd due to come out. her music aint like her dads was b4 he passed on but i garuntee u its what elvis would have done now that your allowed to cuss in your music. cuz elvis had alot inside he couldnt get out cuz everyone expected him to sing teddy bear and other songs like that. no one allowed him to be himself and when he tried his music didnt sell cuz of it. give lisa a chance shes the only way u could see the frusterated side of elvis
pacer1965 wrote on January 18, 2005
Being angry is a ugly word too. Not everyone thought Elvis could sing either but thats there problem not mine. I was not insulting lisa's personality. I was saying i dont like her singing. If your in the entertainment business you have to put up with the critics.

there seems to be a few that really don't like lisa marie, but why? what has she done that has got you so mad? if the hate is cos of what your've read in the papers and such like then she truelly has inherrited her dad legacy cos they always printed stories about him that were trash.
pacer1965 wrote on January 18, 2005
Your right Justtcb. Not everything you read in the papers is true. I never said i hated lisa. I dont even read the newspapers here in the uk because they are always putting people down and they have not said nice things about Elvis either. I dont think it was all lisa idea to sell 85% i bet priscilla had something to do with that.lisa does seem to be getting all the blame

As her albums says: SO WHAT???... I really don't know why Elvis fans are so interested in Lisa so much. People!!! Please accept this... As Jackson said for Janet in a ceremony:"Elvis and Lisa are really two different people..." People in Turkey listen to Lisa as a different singer and they don't judge her career and achievements or compare them.I think in all countries this goes on but some Elvis fans;probably the older ones can not realize her career;character also.To Lisa... I hope you get another gold award for this album too and I really can't wait to have it.Good Luck and please take care...!
William S. Burroughs wrote on January 18, 2005
So rude!!! whats your problem!!! You act in such a classless way sometimes!!! I personaly don´t like her music, but I think that if she has quality or not as an artist is her own business, she has her own reasons to do her music, and I don´t think that to please Elvis fans are one of those reasons. I don´t know if she has legitimate artistic reasons to do this new albim; NO! I don´t think she´s as good as Fiona Apple or Tori Amos, she´s not as talented as Björk for sure jaja, but I think the comparison with Elvis is point less, this are diferent times. But anyway, It must be a drag for her to be always compared to her dad, and from that point of view, I totally respect that she has the courage to stand up and do what she wants to do. When it comes about Lisa taking care of Elvis legacy, I think you can speak all the shit that you want, Elvis fans have that right even if not always show how to use it. But when it comes about her music and her private live, don´t be so heavy and predictable, leave her alone, it doesn´t have to do anything with you Elvis fans. If you all Elvis people don´t like Lisa´s Music, well shut up and just don´t buy it OK? and then will see how many copies will sell jajajaja And thats what fans would have done when those miseralbe soundtracks in the mid 60´s where released, that would have bee a much more clever way to show a little bit of respect to the King. Yours: William S. (be kind with others) Burroughs

This has got to be a sad day for Elvis, watching from up there in rock and roll heaven so many people be mean spirited towards his pride and joy Lisa Marie. I keep hearing the lyrics to "If I Can Dream" in my head as I write this. Elvis was singing for peace and understanding and compassion for your fellow man. Anyone who claims to be an Elvis fan should kow better than to show so much disrespect towards another human being the way you have towards Lisa Marie. You haven't even heard the CD yet! After you've heard it upon being released, then feel free to offer positive criticism. If you haven't anything nice to say, do what Elvis did, keep it to yourself. This world has enough hurting all around, Elvis fans shouldn't be adding to the hurt in anyway, shape or form.

I agree with those who don't want to hear about Lisa on this site. I want Elvisnews to stop delivering news about her! After all, she's the one who sold 85% of her daddy, and of our idol ! ! ! I don't think she gives a damn about her dad nor his legacy, and that makes me sick
harmston wrote on January 19, 2005
Doctor, are you for real! Firstly, I'm not sure where your image of Elvis comes from. Elvis never criticized anyone? Elvis was a perfect human being? One song (If I can Dream) sums up Elvis' entire life!Have you been raiding the drugs cabinet! Lisa's actions over the past month or so, entitles people to critique her reasons for selling the most important thing Elvis left her - himself. From a business perspective, the deal is a disaster; that 85% of a company where 100% of income is related to one individual with an international reach such as Elvis should be sold for twice annual earnings is unbelievable - whoever gave her this business advise could be charged with professional negligence. From a personal view, regardless of Lisa's rhetoric, to sell 85% of your father's legacy at any price is disgraceful, for a meagre $100 million it also smacks of desperation. The true reasons for selling should be given, the fans deserve that much. So Lisa wanted an international media partner, and so the decision is made to sell to a company who has as much international influence as the local corner shop. She wanted a truely international promotions and media partner - try Bertelsmann!!!! Turning to her recording career. Her 'career' is nothing but the whim of a spoilt little rich kid - because she can she has, notwithstanding that she has no discernible vocal talent whatsoever. Of course, its her right to spend her money as she wishes, no one begrudges her her money, her public image (which she has worked hard to cultivate), nor her own career - she's an adult and she has the right to amke her own choices. It certanly can not have been easy growing up with Elvis as your father, trying to mould your own personality and life independent of the biggest shadow the world has ever known - Lisa has tried and the 'sell out' may be a further attempt to do so. But she will always be doomed to failure. Whatever she achieves in life, rightly or wrongly, her biggest claim to fame will be that she's Elvis' daughter. There's a million and one things she could have done with her life given the oportunity she has; instead she has choosen to court notoriety and infamy - the Michael Jackson debacle, selling her father's estate etc etc. She should not and can not expect adoration merely because she is Elvis daughter; thus far, she has done nothing do demonstrate she deserves understanding and/or credit for anything. Elvis and Lisa are not inseperable, there are two distinct entities. Just because I love and admire her father, does not mean I have to love and admire her. Elvis earned my feelings towards him, so far Lisa hasn't done anything to deserve the same. Of course, she probably couldn't give a damn but maybe that's a further indictment of her....
pacer1965 wrote on January 19, 2005
I agree harmston i cannot believe lisa sold her own dad for 50 million pound the kings worth alot more than that.I dont know where she got her advice from. Makes you wonder how much she will sell Graceland for.Do you think she will tell us before she sells it or after ?
Jim Semple wrote on January 19, 2005
If she fritters away this $100 million, then there is absolutely no doubt, she would sell Graceland. She has already proved the family silver / memories mean nothing to her. So why did she sell the 85% majority share ? Well, she was either broke (yeh right) or just bloody mercenary (more like it). And for the naive amongst us who say Lisa is a Saint, I've seen her on several television shows, and she is embarrassing. She is rude, arrogant, gives virtually one word answers and has zero personality. Yes she had a very strange upbringing, but Im sorry, the one thing she didnt have, was / is a hard life.................something sadly her Dad did have.

I wish Lisa Marie the best. I have seen her in concert and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed her first album. I may not agree with everything she has or has not done, but I love her generous nature and I think we should NOT judge her unless we walk in her shoes. Best of luck Lisa with your next CD. I will buy it.

Mmmm... I think I miss something :-). Well, I have nothing against Elvis' little girl, but I am not interested in her music. I know there are fans that are interested in her doings just because she's his daughter, but there are enough other sites paying attention to her...

harmston wrote on January 19, 2005
JC, hmmm.... Am I a fan? Well, i have 4000 Elvis Lps, around 1000 cds, around 500 books and spend circa £8 -10000 per year on Elvis stuff. Have been to Memphis (from the UK) 7 times. I also love and admire Elvis to bits. Does that make me a fan? You decide... There in simply no connection between my respect, admiration, love (call it whatyou like) for Elvis and Lisa - to describe Lisa as part of 'my family' is ridiculous. I could understand that argument for Elvis as he permeates all facets of my life....but Lisa? Other than being Elvis' daughter, what is she?????
roytcbintheuk wrote on January 19, 2005
i bought her first album out of her curiousity and the only really good song on it is lights out. i will not be wasting my money on this release and i guess that goes for 95% of fans who go on this site

I only bought her 1st CD to hear/have the song she sang during Elvis Week in Memphis. I doubt I'll buy any future releases from Lisa, I am and have been a very big Elvis fan since I could walk. I admire her, she is Elvis' flesh and blood, and I know, he is POSITIVELY convuleing at what she has done. He left everything to her. His legacy, and to me it seems she just acted so irresponsibly. Getting into debt is one thing, but, selling you daddy's legacy that he left to you and only you because he TRUSTED you would do right by him. I don't know, I'm not judging her, but I sure can't understand why she did what she did. Graceland has always brought in more than enough money to cover the operating expenses. The gift shops gouge the fans, as does Heartbreak Hotel. But we, the fans pay it, because it's Elvis. After I go to Elvis Week this year, I'll know more if I will continue coming. I love Elvis with all my heart, and will until the day *I* die, but I am disabled and on a very fixed income, I have expenses that Medicare just doesn't cover. I agree with Elvis Radio, 'America has had 43 presidents and only one king - Elvis'

To Harmston; does that make you a bigger Elvis fan that any of the rest of us. Just because you spend a certain amount on Elvis stuff. HYPOCRITE. Jeezzz, we all have collections. Mine is valued at $31,000.00 and insured. So does that make me a better or bigger fan. NOPE. So why throw all that crap in there, no one gives a crap. I just hope Lisa is laughing at yall, all the way to the bank!

Kozykitten, I think you missed the whole point of Harmston's post. He wasn't bragging about his collection, he was asking a rhetorical question to JC in direct response to JC's question of whether he was a fan. Besides in repsonse to your question, you would lose. I know Harmston and would guess his collection is worth circa £75-80000 minimum (circa $150,000). But then again hes a rich Management Consultant ;)

OK I don't always like everything Lisa may say or do, but am I qualified to know how she feels - no and neither are 99.9% of us. She is not Elvis, there will never be another Elvis, but he would be proud of her whatever and be disgusted with some of your comments. ok fellas, I think we all agree that if the market capitalization of damn ebay is around 50bio usd, 100mio seem a bit of a joke for a product like elvis, but no one wants to make theories about future cash flows discounted to present if some manager walks out of a company with 100mio in pension money (see enron and others), that figure doesnt sound like a lot of money for buying the king. but now explain me smtg please, what's the link between her business abilities and her voice?she got a sexy low voice, lots of men wished they had such a low voice...
