No More Visa With Elvis

December 24, 2008 | Other

When Bank of America bought MBNA, which offered Elvis Visa cards, Bank of America and Elvis Presley Enterprise discontinued the credit card program (Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation) effective December 31st, 2008 and no more Elvis Visa cards will be issued. However, it is possible to use Elvis Visa cards until the expiration date on the card, but purchases made with the card will no longer generate a contribution.

That's too bad. I've had the Elvis VISA card ever since they first were issued. One of the "perks" was getting a 10% discount for everything purchased through Shop Elvis using the Elvis VISA card. Looks like Bank of America is being a "Scrooge." I've already applied for another VISA card to replace the Elvis one. Boo! and Hiss! to Bank of America.

One time a marketing manager came to the bank director and said: Hey boss I have a great idea. We discontinue the Elvis-Card. We just replace the picture and loose a lot of customers with this ! And the bank director replied: Well, that's a good idea. Sounds like a joke to me.

I was very sad to learn about this. I've had my 2 Elvis Visa cards since the beginning. Too bad, I will miss the 10% discount at Graceland shops. A sign of the times I guess. . .

This is very strange. Doesn't sound like good business practice to me. If EPE doesn't have a card through Bank of America, you would think they would team up with another card company unless the fees charged by the bank are too high. Otherwise, I really can't see EPE missing out on a chance to make some extra bucks. And the Elvis fan now has to become an Elvis Insider to get the 10% which usually amounts to the price of shipping.
