No If I Can Dream Release

April 27, 2007 | Other
The "If I Can Dream" duet by Elvis and Celine Dion has caused a stir across the globe, newspapers call it historic, some have even stated that the Idols Give Back show was dull and was only saved by the duet. In an email sent to the Elvis Express by one of their listeners, Todd Morgan of Elvis Presley Enterprises wrote, "This was a one-time, stand-alone event for last night's Idol Gives Back special and an iTunes video download only." He also states "No release of the video on DVD is in the works." Morgan also states the that duet "came together rather fast".

How can they keep dropping the ball? All through Elvis music career and since his passing, soooo many opportunities have been missed by those with the power. This performance should be immediately available on DVD as well as a single. It should be shown on VH1. This is what the public wants, instead of the next ridiculas trinket with the "official" Elvis name on it. I hope they pull their heads out of the sand and capitalize on this. I believe this "If I Can Dream" duet will do far better than the "A Little Less Conversation" remix in the charts as well as sales if they'll push it now. Enough with the silly products like the Elvis duck & the Elvis "brand" coffee. Listen to the public and take advantage of this opportunity in front of you EPE.

if i were everyone id start a petition to get todd morgan fired and anyone else in charge of epe they are supposed to give the fans what they want elvis always did why do they think there too good for that elvis died for us making us happy. fire todd morgan now!! i had it with there stupid nonsense they treat us elvis fans like crap its time to get even sign petitions to get rid of him and hire someone or we all refuse to buy anything of elvis' anymore or go to graceland get them where it hurts in there pockets money talks.

It was a nice touch but who needs a duet? Elvis can stand alone on his own, And I must say I was struck by how much emotion Elvis sings with and Celine is just a technical singer, and rather boring at that.

No "If I can dream" duet release? Well, I think that it's more amazing than "Don't cry daddy"/Lisa Marie duet made in 1997!

Of all the stupid blunders that EPE has made since his death, not releasing this has to be the worst! This could have been a major kick off to their Elvis festivities and would have netted them millions and a new #1 single and probably album too. I guess all we have to look forward to is more idiotic compilations. This really burns me up!
Dixieland Rock wrote on April 28, 2007
I agree RonBaker. It seems they are more concerned with coming up with a "Hound Dog" themed dark roast coffee or a "Blue Sude Shoes" bicycle than to pay attention to the public who want to see more of the Man & His music. This is the same mentality that allowed the original "Burning Love" album to be a budget compilation instead of a high quality album. Even with the movies, the same mentality was there. Have Elvis sing "He's Your Uncle Not Your Dad" instead of putting him on a stage in the film ripping into a gritty blues number. I've never understood the powers that be blundering so many golden opportunities. Here is a potential Worldwide Smash CD single/DVD opportunity right in their face. Listen to to public this time!!!!

Pop idol is owned by Bob Sillerman who owns Elvis Presley Enterprises. This must be destined for release. Negotiations with Sony BMG please! This will be yet another No1 for Elvis in this country and who better to do it with than Celine Dion? Let's see it on CD and the charts now! Elvis Now Magazine. www.elvisnow.4t.com

Unfortunately I'd have to say it all comes down to greed and money. Actually I'm amazed this wonderful event even came together considering. Look, there's American Idol - Elvis Enterprises, BMG - then Celines camp and of course whoever was the impersonator on stage. I'm hoping they're actually using this to build momentum for sales by just saying they're not releasing it. Then when they do a major block buster! Like it would need the help anyway. I don't see how they could ignor this at any level. The magnitude of this event was truly touching.

Okay, so let's download the clip on the internet for free (great quality copies are already available) and leave the new Celine-Elvis hair shampoo and pair of teddy-bears for the EPE merchandising. They always knew what's really important to the fans.

Of course it should be released especially with with everyone raving about about it.I'm sure it woud be a huge hit.But to talk about starting a petition to get Todd fired is going way over the top. After all it's not just up to him there's BMG, Celine Dion and her record company to take into account as well.
emjel wrote on April 28, 2007
Yes it's not a straight forward as we would like. It's all about royalties & copyright etc. For me, it's another avenue that keeps Elvis' name alive, and would be great for the upcoming anniversary. Already we are seeing the 10th anniversary of Diana PoW death overshadowing Elvis' 30th. This will no doubt be another missed opportunity from the powers that be, who control the Elvis empire.

Get the tapes, lock 'em up and throw away the key. "American idol" and Celine Dion are just the kind of bland trash Elvis' name is continuously being connected to these days. For once, EPE have got it right, and I don't say that very often. Having said that, it was that bunch of cretins which allowed it to take place in the first instance.
ep3577 wrote on April 28, 2007
Viva I am puzzeled at your reaction. This was the best exposure Elvis has had in a long time. By the way Celine did an excellent job, she has one of the best voices today along with Elvis" of course.

This EPE... It really needs to improve itself. Ok Copyright problems and etc. But nothing is impossible and I am %100 sure that this single will sell millions of copies and have multi platinum awards.AND you will get a lot of MONEY. AND: Elvis fans will be very happy.( THIS is the most important thing.)
Rusty wrote on April 29, 2007
EPE are not really bothered because Sony/BMG own the recording copyright all they will receive is half of the artist royalty payment, it is not worth their while to get involved, it is a sad fact but at the end of the day it's all about money and American Idol, itunes and Sony/BMG stand to benefit the most.
Steve V wrote on April 29, 2007
With several forums buzzing all about this topic can anyone deny this will not be hit if released? Of course it will. The world hasnt been talking about Elvis this much in years. You can say all you want but exposure to a mass audience with the right song, video, etc is all it takes to put Elvis back on top of the charts. A remix or even a duets album is a very good idea at this point for the general public.

Santa Claus: You said it yourself. It's already avaiable on the "Net." For free!! In great quality. Why should anyone buy it?
