New FTD Release Error

Following on from the 'Elvis (aka Fool)' Classic Album Disc 2 track error ('Padre' was repeated) is the latest one as featured on FTD release "Chicago Stadium".

The track numbers on Disc 1 do not match the song line-up. 'See, See Rider' is shown on the cover as track 1, but on the disc it is actually track 2. And by the time you get to the 'Closing Vamp' you are two numbers out. 'Closing Vamp' listed as track 22 but actually track 24.

Disc Two is a behind from track 12 onwards, it should be 'What'd I Say/Johnny B. Goode' but is 'Early Mornin' Rain'. It seems those medleys cause track point issues for FTD but that can't be used as an excuse on disc 1.

This CD was Mastered by Lene Reidel who has previously made major mistakes with her FTD work.

One posting asked why Sony cannot simply find the missing soundtrack session tapes and release them. If only it were that easy!

Michael Sander it's not really my problem if your not satisfied or that i didn't covince you ,only thing i have to know is that there's is no mistake on disc 1 on ''Fool" i'm not that picky...Remix or not.Happy New Year ; )

Great to be able to get vol 1 + 2 for JRock. So why can't they find/release those fabulous "misplaced" rec. session tapes of KCreole as well as the other missing movie outtakes ? Spdway, Roust, KC+his last 5 movies' outtakes??? Or will FTD release them all in 2011 ? A press release with Info from FTD Team would help us find out. Those close to Ernst and Roger, please help them better communicate, PLS.

Jesse Garon: I appreciate your comment. Thanks for letting me read the Ernst statement, it’s quite interesting, I never read it before. I would like to reply to you: No, I’m not satisfied, because there still is no remix of ’Fool‘, there‘s only a different source of the same version. This is a matter of remastering, and Vic’s new version Track 1 sounds better than Lene’s version Track 15, already released on the ’Standing room album‘. At the end both versions are exactly the same mix, and I repeat it again, we are talking about a NEW MIX, but there is no new mix. The only thing we have here, is, that Elvis voice is a little bit more lefthanded,, that’s ridiculous! Joan Deary’s version on the Silver box, including the string section right from the beginning, well, that’s a remix! Sorry Pal, couldn’t convince me so far. Remix means, that some instruments are arranged differently, that the sound has been changed in some kind of way. At least you should be able to really hear a difference, when you listen to it on your loudspeakers. Now in this case I needed earphones, to hear even the slightest amount of a diffference, and I had to spend 2 evenings, to really find out, if there is this slightest amount of a difference. And after I found out, I discovered, that it had been already released on ’Standing room only‘. Sorry, I say it again and again and again – THERE IS NO REMIX!

I understand people standing behind FTD, and that's all good and well. However, it would be nice if they would get it right with every release. This stuff isn't rocket science. Numbering the tracks incorrectly is no big deal, but repeating songs or screwing up the sound quality on professionally recorded tracks we've known for years is a bit much. What makes matters worse is that we pay a premium price for their product. It's too much to say who cares, who doesn't care, or who's sleeping with whom. That really doesn't matter. What matters is that we're all paying our hard earned cash for a good product. It's not too much to ask that they get it right. And if they don't, they should fix it. That's only fair.

LarsG, I'm with you 100%! Also don't like closing statement form this article: "This CD was Mastered by Lene Reidel who has previously made major mistakes with her FTD work". I just don't blame her for all the evil that's in the world; didn't order this release, but I'm extremely satisfied with JR v2 instead! Gettin' back to the point: Folks, please, don't spoil this Christmas cheer with some nasty comments. All the best for Christmas time and new Year!

I think those remarks on Ernst personal releations in no way belongs in this forum! Despite the errors with different takes and so on, Ernst and his staff are doing a great job to provide us fans with great releases.

Posted on the FECC Forum on Nov.11th : Confirmed - the "Fool" mixes ARE different - Ernst Jørgensen wrote:
The mixes come from 2 different tapes and are done at different dates. The easiest way to tell them apart is by concentrating on the vocal - It is not so obvious when actually listening to the tracks but when you indeed concentrate on the vocal you can hear that its placement in the stereophonic field is different in both versions, with the "alternate mix" placed slightly left of centre whilst the album master is slightly to the right - no doubt a remnant of the analog panning nature of vintage mixing desks. So, you might be asking "well, if they're so alike why bother having them both". I would argue historical interest. Clearly what can be determined from these two tapes is that Felton had a clear picture earlier on for what he was going for. Perhaps he felt that he could improve the mix later on but ultimately decided against big changes. Regardless of your personal thoughts and opinions about the value of including this mix if anything you can rest assured that there are no errors with disc 1 of the "Fool" FTD. So Michael Sander hope you satisfied now.

Michael Sander yes you r the one who's wrong word ( by Ernst)is officially out that that the '' so-called""fool track on disc one was not a mistake,if i can find the article ( read on FECC) i will post it here today so you can read it for yourself that i'm not wrong. in all together with this little mistake on this new FTD it's much ado about nothing
HangLoose (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 21, 2010report abuse
Balkan: Ernst rarely read and almost never answers these complaints. He's a selfish b...h and simply doesn't care at all. When he rarely answers,he says a simple "Sorry" but that's not enough. Instead of apologies we want and deserve REPLACEMENT COPIES for our money! Only replacement copies can make up for the errors. Nothing else.
HangLoose (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 21, 2010report abuse
Sander: FTD's and errors belong together. Don't hope it will change. It didn't change after 11 years so most likely it will never change. The problem is that most persons behind the label are not fans and they don't care at all. Lene is the lover of Ernst, this is the only reason she's still there and she will never be fired.
Sirbalkan (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 21, 2010report abuse
Isn't there anyone from Sony or FTD staff reading these comments? I really wonder.
Michael Sander (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 21, 2010report abuse
To Jesse Garon - ‘just like the FOOL ftd suddenly there was also a mistake on disc 1 ,but there wasn't at all‘. I guess you’re not correct, because the alternate remix of ’Fool‘ track 14 is just the same mix as track 1, so there’s a duplication, and no alternate mix here, correct me, if I’m wrong.
To dr.johncarpenter0117, you are correct, the vinyl release of ‘Viva Las Vegas‘ offers ’The lady loves me – take 2‘, ’If you think I don’t need you‘ – take 2 and ’The lady loves me‘ – take 2. All of them not included in the CD-FTD version, but released before. Well, just take a look at the vinyl release of the ‘Jungle room session‘, many tracks were gathered from previous Sony/FTD releases, and at the end it lead to a kind of perfect summary for this topic. So it seems, that the vinyl releases stand for themselves.
Getting back to the CDs - some mistakes have been made, so the nowaday releases are not perfect, although they might include a lot of pleasure for the listener. What really might count at the end, is, that there’s a feeling of passion for the music ... and hopefully FTD can improve about their technichal problems.

I'm willing to bet some of the constant agenda bound complainers only bear the cost of their internet data allowance when it comes to obtaining FTDs.

Seems to me to be much ado about nothing. Does an error such as this particularly detract from the listening experience ? Personally I haven't bought too many of the recent live FTD's as they were all getting a bit samey for me.

This isn't the first rack screw-up by FTD. Try the FTD release "Elvis At The International"... same issue the numbers of the tracks are out of kilter as this new one. So what's new? Take the money and run as usual; it's still the only way to hear our man other than bootlegs (which I can't get nor would I purchase) and his studio outtakes and ramblings, not to forget his live concerts. FTD is getting a little lax in monitoring their product; so what's new?

I placed my order last week (not just FTDs but other items that are meant to be xmas presents) and STILL my order has not been shipped!!!! Again the FTDs were a smallpart of my order and NOTHING HAS SHIPPED. There is no way I am going to get this order before xmas now...

Jesse: If you have more important things in life to care then don't bother to post here. There are enough FTD-apologists already. Benny: it has already been discussed about 2 weeks ago that they will raise prices again in january. You'll see it soon. Thank you and good nite!
benny scott (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 19, 2010report abuse
And I strongly disagree with you HangLoose . Your negative mentality has become well-known by now. I agree the errors should not have been made . But to use your own expressions :"what the hell" are you moaning about "we will have to pay at least $35-40..." when you personally do NOT PAY in $US but in Euro, living in Austria . As far as I know Austria is still a European country, and I've heard nothing about a raise in price so far. I find it regrettable too these mistakes have been made, but in the end I have to agree with Jesse Garon : it's the music that counts in the very first place, and who knows, maybe FTD will reprint the cover in its correct version and make an exchance possible for those who bought the release. Could you pls, for once, post a positive reaction on ANY of the topics of this newssite ? It would be a nice change ! No personal hard feelings buddy, but it becomes so depressing in the end . Don't tell me EVERYTHING is bad or wrong ! This doesn't prevent me to wish you a peaceful X-MaAlways El.
Jesse Garon Presley (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 19, 2010report abuse
Really don't care for you to disagree you mostly do nothing else,i have more important things in life to care for then again for some silly mistake on this new FTD.
HangLoose (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 19, 2010report abuse
I strongly disagree. We pay top dollar for the whole product, that includes the audio CD AND!!!!! the cover. Both have to be perfect, because we paid for it. I've heard they will raise prices in january. From that on we will have to pay at least $35-40 for these substandard faulty products. Now that's something i call chutzpah! The prices are higher and higher while the quality control is lower and lower. What the hell they think about us and most importantly what the hell they think about themselves?????
Jesse Garon Presley (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 19, 2010report abuse

Tony,i don't think that those so called FTD-bashers have an agenda. They are talking about valid points. These errors are present on about every 2nd FTD release. Sad,but true. Erika

FTD becoming worst than RCA...
benny scott (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 18, 2010report abuse
I always defended FTD in the past . What's going on ? Agree with drjohn and Tony C : sloppy work indeed . Think Henryk is right , not Lene's fault . I'm afraid FTD will not correct their error this time, though a new correctly printed cover would cost much less than 2 new discs ! ( one can always hope and dream !)Always El.
Martin DJ (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 18, 2010report abuse
Wrong track numbers? That's the most shocking thing I ever heard.
Henryk (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 18, 2010report abuse
In this case I don't think Lene Reidel is to blame. I'd rather blame the artwork department/person who should have simply listened to the CD first and then type in the track listing that was to be printed on the cover. Does anyone honestly think it could've been the other way round?
A: Listen Lene. Here's your digipak with the track listinging already printed on the back cover. Now 'slice' the 69 minutes of audio neatly so that the tracks on the disc match the cover. OK?
B: Consider it done! ;-)
Tony C (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 18, 2010report abuse
This is very sloppy work, these things should be checked, double checked and checked again before the masters are produced. I do defend FTD product when people trash it for their own warped agendas, but there is no defence in this instance.
