July 04, 2011 | Music

On the back of the vinyl version of the 'Pot Luck' album the Follow That Dream collector's label appears to announce the release of the CD and vinyl re-issues of the 'G.I. Blues' and 'His Hand In Mine' albums containing out-takes and master recordings of the songs from these albums.

We got the CD edition of "His Hand In Mine" from FTD back in 2006 so in the case of this album only the vinyl will be new.

We've also had 'Blue Hawaii' and 'Jailhouse Rock' on FTD CD but the 'G I Blues' CD looks interesting and is new to FTD.

Interesting spelling of "Jordainaires" (But no, it's hardly a critical mistake!) However, I'm afraid I can't see any reference to "His Hand In Mine" coming out on vinyl. Only "Jailhouse Rock" which is already out, & of course "GI Blues" on both vinyl & CD, which is something to look forward to. It reads "Remastered by Vic Anessi from the ORIGINAL multi track session tapes, the sound surpasses anything that's gone before" Wonder who that could be directed at!?

I'm not into "reading the tea leaves" about what FTD might release in the future. I'll just wait for an announcement. I'm way behind on past releases as is.

"Remastered by Vic Anessi from the ORIGINAL multi track session tapes, the sound surpasses anything that's gone before" I thought we already had the tapes remastered. Does this mean they are playing the fragile original session tapes - yet again or are they working on digital session master copies of the tapes? If they are still using 50 year old session tapes, surely there's a probability of them getting damaged. It's a MUST that every original Elvis session tape is digitally stored, otherwise we won't have the recordings to re-master.
