New Footage In That's The Way It Is

June 27, 2000 | Video
In our endless series on TTWII we can now announce you that Turner Classic Movies is in the painstaking process of re-editing and remixing the 1970s classic documentary "Elvis, That's the Way It Is," slated for a limited theatrical release at Graceland and broadcast on TCM in the fall. Using more than 50,000 feet of never-before-seen Elvis Presley footage, project producer Rick Schmidlin said more than 40% of the "Special Edition" contains lost footage that shows Elvis performing during rehearsals and in candid conversations backstage with people like Sammy Davis Jr. A CinemaScope theatrical version of the "Special Edition" is slated to be screened at the Elvis Film Festival, August 12 at Graceland. The first full-length broadcast is scheduled for the anniversary of Elvis' birthday, January 8, next year according to this article. We guess we just have to wait and see when it will hit the screen.
