November 14, 2003 | Other
Radio London was a UK Pirate radio station which broacast from a ship anchored three miles off the British coast which a daily audience of 8 million. The radio station which went off the air in 1967 has been fondly remembered.

It is returning to the air in December, but not illegally from the sea, but this year on land. The transmitters for this English station are based near Hilversum, Holland, and will be on a power of 250,000 Watts. This means that the footpaint will service almost all of England, and the Benelux with an excellent signal. (A potential audience of 75 million) The station will sound like the original pirate. Todd Slaughter will be hosting the Elvis hour on the new station.

Hi Raymond, This got a mention in the OEPFC magazine. Try 1008kHz on medium wave. For those of us in Scotland, Radio Scotland also has a transmitter on this frequency so reception could be very difficult. Radio London is also available on Sky digital and they also have a website available from the usual search engines. All the best, Andy in Aberdeenshire.
