New "Elvis" Movies

September 04, 2007 | Other
Two new Elvis themed movies are in the works. One based on Sonny West's book "Elvis: Still Taking Care Of Business", the other is apossible remake of Elvis' classic "Blue Hawaii".

There are 50,000 Elvis impersonators in the world - but Jamie McDonnell has got what it takes to make him stand out from the crowd. He's got the voice, the moves and the looks. Now he could be in line for the fame and fortune as well. At the age of16, he's already got Elvis fans all shook up with his fabulous tribute act. And now the Garngoch teenager could be heading for Hollywood stardom after being asked to play Elvis in a new film about The King. The film is being backed by Sonny West and will be based on his book, Elvis: Still Taking Care of Business. It could go into production soon.

Blue Hawaii

Rumours are spread that there will be a remake of Blue Hawaii, the most succesfull movie in the Hawaii-trilogy. The main part could go to Zac Efron. Allthough this 19-year old actor is not very well known in Europe at this moment, he did already play in more than 15 movies and tv-series. It is not the purpose that Zac will be a copy or look-a-like of Elvis. The producers are planning to make a fresh and modern remake of the sixties classic. It's not known at this moment if the Elvis songs will be used in the new movie.

Stupid idea remake a movie which is classic and okay to watch only because of Elvis himself. I think the film is not going to happen. Altrought, it would bring publicity for original "Blue Hawaii".

My opinion, leave it alone. That goes for Sonny West too. If you want to do another movie based on Blue Hawaii do your "modern remake" and call it something else. Blue Hawaii will always belong to Elvis.

no please no , blue hawaii without Elvis is unthinkable , leave the films be , we dont want a remake with an actor who thinks he has what it takes to be Elvis , there have been some good biopics in the past , but you cant remake blue hawaii without elvis no way

The last thing the world needs now is a remake of 'Blue Hawaii'. In my opinion, the Elvis classic cannot be beaten for this genre of musical.

The "Elvis" movie was a product of its time. They were sucessful because times were much different, and above all because it was Elvis. They were great in their time. In their own way they're a time capsule. In my opinion remaking one is foolhardy. It will be interesting to see if it actually gets made.

The title of the films lead song is now changed to "Only fools rush in" for it´s upcoming release on the 1st of April 2008. Sonny and the imposters are making the film with his new digital camera featured in his cell phone. I guess the new Dylan movie that lye ahead have a serious competitor on the oscar awards now..
